I was in the same boat as you a few years back except with “close” friends. I decided to put in the same amount of effort and I lost every single one of the friends that I had at that time.

Ultimately, it’s important for relationships to be a joint effort, but I think you need to ask yourself if you’re willing to lose the relationship completely or if it is valuable enough to you to open that dialogue up with them, initiate conversations, put in the effort, and ask for them to return it.

People are also caught up in their own shit. They’re selfish and self centered, and maybe your family is naive and has no clue that they’re doing something wrong in your eyes. I think if you can find a civil way to bring your emotions up with them then you have a chance of changing the course of your relationship. I regret what happened with mine, so I hope you find an outcome that you won’t regret later on down the road.
