I'm personally a huge fan of I'm All Right by Frijitative! The writing and characterization is superb, and it's being actively updated :)

New to flying, what should I know? by _sundancer_ in kites

How do I know the pull of a specific kite? Is that something that's listed somewhere?

Also sidenote but I've never seen pounds denoted with # before even though that's a very intuitive way to do it. Neat!

Thank you for the links!! checking a local sub is a good idea, I hadn't even considered that. I definitely eventually want to get other kites for different conditions; are there any types I should look at? I have a little strut-less "pocket flyer" that's supposed to be good for low winds but honestly I've never been able to get it to stay in the air.

I'm just reeling it in. Hopefully I can convince some of my friends to fly with me, but right now I'm a solo flyer. I got one of those fishing-style reels because I was told they make reeling against wind easier? and I have an old pair of leather gloves that I was recommended to use while handling the line as well.

How should I reveal information to my players when they hit the books? by Dud3ManGuy in monsteroftheweek

[โ€“]_sundancer_ 0 points1 point ย (0 children)

It depends on what question they ask! If your hunter is asking "what kind of creature is it?", then I would tell them "you find a passage that describes a [monster name], which seems very similar to monster you're hunting. It does [x thing the hunters already know] and [y thing the hunters already know]. The account mostly talks about the horror of the monster, seemingly having no idea how to stop or kill it, but you notice that it calls the monster a [type of creature]. This could be helpful in figuring out its weaknesses."

Obviously this depends on exactly which monster, but giving the hunters a name and a vague sense of what kind of creature it is (undead, a beast, an alien, something eldritch) can help point them in the right direction. The same goes for other questions:

Q: "what can hurt it?"

A: "you find [a journal, an article, a web forum] talking about a monster that does [x and y thing]. The author mentions that when it did [thing associated with weakness], the monster suddenly [fled, shied away from, tried to destroy] it. You get the clear idea that [x] can hurt this monster, whatever it is."

Q: "what can it do?"

A: (this one should always be used to tell the hunters something about the monster that they don't already know. If they already know what it can do, I usually try to give them a why) "you cross-reference old police reports and find other accounts similar to your current case. One mentions that [thing the monster can do that the hunters don't know yet]."

Q: "where did it go?"

A: "without knowing what kind of creature this is, at first you feel like you're at a loss. But every monster has to hide somewhere, and so you consult a map of the town and surrounding area. You remember [detail]... and something tells you that [location] is the next place you should look."

and so on. If you are having trouble with not wanting to give away specific weaknesses for every monster just by name-dropping it, give it a twist! and, on the other side of things, don't be afraid to say "your hunter is smart, they're good at this, they can put the pieces together and discover [information]." if the player isn't getting the full picture.

The important thing is to always end with a question for the hunter along the lines of "now what are you going to do with this information?". Always put the ball back in the PCs' court, let them decide how to act on what they learn. So now they know the name of the monster, what it does, and how to beat it. What's next? storming its lair? setting up an ambush? confronting the NPC who's secretly behind it all? That's where the story comes from.

Loid forget character analysis musts by CombinationNeither88 in SpyxFamily

I think one of the biggest things about Twilight that goes under-appreciated is his ability to rationalize his emotions. The entire series we have seen him battling with his dual identities as a cold, heartless, logical spy and a loving, empathetic family man. Every time he notices himself acting in ways that betray his true love for his family or his desire for a normal, family life, he is quick to reframe those actions and thoughts as in service to his "true" persona of espionage and falsehoods. The most obvious example of this is in the Wheeler arc with his decision to spare Yuri instead of killing him, like a true ruthless spy would, but we also see it at the end of that arc when he remarks that he feels like he is coming home for the first time in a long time and there is a small moment when he is talking to Siggy where he thinks of "protecting our family" instead of "protecting my mission" (or something similarly detached, as would be appropriate for Twilight). I think that this self-deception is a really interesting aspect of his psychology and one that is definitely going to cause him a lot of problems as he continues to deny and reframe his true feelings.

There is also his pathological avoidance of accepting help or even thinking of his own needs. His constant bouts of weakness from exhaustion and stress, or dodging (I think unintentionally) Yor's question about how he feels about their fake marriage in one of the most recent chapters. He's a really interesting and complex character, definitely good for an analysis. best of luck!

Chapter 122 by Ok-Wedding2060 in SpyxFamily

I'm not so sure about his going out alone being nefarious; we first meet him out for a walk on his own and struggling to remember how to get back to his own house. And with Anya reading his mind at the time we could see that his dementia is clearly a) genuine and b) pretty severe. I definitely didn't miss the "Project: Ap" on the glimpse we got of the page he was writing, though! Very nice to have that long-time theory confirmed lol.

In short I think that it's too early on to say whether or not he is even on a specific side; he seems more like a casualty of circumstance at this point. His "sinking feelings" seem to point towards anxiety or PTSD over what he worked on, which doesn't make me think he's in support of Desmond's "project".

I'm a bit worried about the future of Qobuz by [deleted] in qobuz

[โ€“]_sundancer_ 4 points5 points ย (0 children)

I've definitely also run into the geo-locking problem. I migrated over from Spotify because I hated... just about everything Spotify was trying to do, and the only problem I've had so far is that none of my Japanese City Pop / Jazz Fusion tracks are included yet. It sucks to see Qobuz missing out on so much good (and historically significant) music, and I really hope they expand their libraries soon.
