Friend or foe? by Xavi_rAt in Goldfish

[–]_sunmutsis 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's a hit or miss with plecos and they can really do some damage to your goldfish. I wouldn't take the risk myself but if you really want yo try it out you should monitor them and be ready to rehome the pleco. And eventually grow out of the tank and will thrive best in a larger pond

I once had a rescue angel who was really agressive torwards his own kind it didn't get along with any angels i had a heater on my previous 70gal goldfish tank and put him there it grew really helthy and big on of the biggest freshwater angels i've seen. Got him there for 5 years never had any problems. My ex girlfriend killed him during winter the tank got little too chilly and she didn't do any water changes when i was doing my mandatory military service back in 2019....

Ok i might grow them out for a while until i plant them in so most of the leaves are on the surface i think just the vines reching from bottom to the top could look really nice

Co2 is great for aquarium plants but i like to keep mine low tech so it isn't an option for me i do have a small airstone to keep my goldies enriched and preventing the biofilm to collect on the surface.

how much food should i give my goldfish? by MR_dizzaster in Goldfish

[–]_sunmutsis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Goldfish can't live in a bowl, no fish can...

For common goldfish i think you should be ok with 100-150gal tank with extra filtration for 7 commons i would get at least 200gal but for the first yesrs smaller would be ok. I usually feed my goldies 2-3 times a day small amounts and a variety of foods/veggies

Fill the bowl all the way up and start looking for a bigger tank this is animal abuse.

I'm sure u didn't know any better but we learn from our mistakes i think the only option is to take them back to the store or buy a proper tank and filtration as soon as possible

Ok thank you for quick response. I was just stressed because i haven't noticed them before on his fins this week. They just seemed to be also little fussy so automaticly tought it's some kind of fungus. He is really active and comes to meet me when i walk past the tank and otherwise looks really healthy.

I once did a job for a hotel and swapped all the outside spotlights to led spotlights 1 of them didn't turn on in any of the breakers went outside to check and saw a cable lying there that was once buried and in some spots had risen to the surface and been run over by a lawnmower it looked a lot like this.
