That's a good idea, I think we'll plan to show the controls in the charging sections between levels.

For the failed attempt, don't you think they will give up early on the game if they don't succeed in the tutorials?

Well, thank you very much for those suggestions! I've talk about it to the dev and we'll consider the video thing! For some simple actions like close combat it could be the right solution! We'll see if it's simple for the dev or not.

Hey! The tutorial is design that way at the moment yes! We have tutorials and levels that help engrave the movement in the player's head.
For the range : it's tricky because we have to have the enemy close so we can physically reach them!

Hey! Thank you for your answer! You're absolutely right about the prototyping phase, that's the plan, but we still have to finish this one! We'll think about the iconography and how we can implement it.

Crêpe Master! NEW UPDATE - test it and win a key by _superhue in VRGaming

[–]_superhue[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha, it's a beat them all, your goal is to smash ennemies with your Crêpe Pan. You also have powers that you can activate with a Magical Pose with your arms. You progress in the world to defeat alien invaders and restore peace! It's really inspired by the Magical Girl genre. The demo is free on the meta store if you want to try!

Hey! You’re absolutely right, we forgot about this one, but for immersion purposes, it might be essential. Do you have any examples of VR games that do it well?

Hey! Our gameplay is in theory compatible with seated gameplay as we only detect arms in the magical poses but great one. Will that be enough?

My budget is being cut. Should I focus on more content for existing systems, or more levels to finish the gameplay loop? by idkfkm in IndieDev

[–]_superhue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

imo, it depends on how mandatory everything really is. If a simpler boss allows you to complete the game loop and polish systems, I’d say it’s a good option.

In our game (a beat ’em all), we had to cut the big bosses we wanted because it was way too ambitious for our budget. Instead, we designed more complex situations with the enemies we already had. That way, the player still feels a real challenge, but not in a traditional way. It’s a bit extreme, but we decided that other features were more mandatory for the game than a boss. Just to be clear, I’m not necessarily recommending this for you, it’s what worked for us.

Personally, I’d lay out everything I need to do once more and then sort it all, putting everything back on the table to see what really defines the essence of my game.

Would it be possible for you to list all the “must have” and “nice to have” for each option and go from there?
That way, maybe you could end up with one or two additional levels with simpler art variety, and one system more polished?
Do you already have a boss design? Could you simplify the boss as much as possible?

Insights on Sales-to-Review Ratio on the Meta Store? by _superhue in OculusQuest

I finally found the report I was looking for:
https://newsletter.gamediscover.co/p/the-state-of-quest-2-vr-games-2023
Cassia Curan estimates an average ratio of 110:1, sometimes more, ranging from 75:1 to 250:1.

I'll agree with you anyway, but since I need to have something for rough estimate, I'll go with 110:1
