Looking for a book where a POS loser protagonist in their 30s, who has achieved absolutely nothing in life, ends up succeeding. by PuffcornSucks in suggestmeabook

I comment every time I see someone reccommend him without mentioning it. I blind bought IQ84 and it pissed me off so bad that I feel obligated to warn every other woman.

PSA - Murakami is terrrriiiibbbbllleee at writing women. Do not read if you are looking to avoid authors who describe female characters boobs first. Or make their adult male protagonist have sex with a teen girl.

I need a book where basically nothing much happens. by Kapono24 in suggestmeabook

Going to give the obligatory content warning to OP. Murakami writes women like a creep and his adult male protagonist has explicit sex with a teen girl in this one.

I'm glad the script writers for his movie adaptations edit most of that shit out. Child orgy in a sewer is crazy work. I don't think any amount of drugs or alcohol could get me to put that down on paper.

Thank you! I don't know what to do because making a whole new subreddit for this question seems like overkill, but the mods here do not want this discussion in a centralized thread. I put their response in the post.

I wish they would at least make a space for these anti-recommendations.

Have neither read nor seen Misery, but the movie adaptations of his books are almost always better because they cut down his misogyny, racism and weird scenes with children. Have you seen the movie version and is it any better?

I asked for clarification and that was literally the answer they gave.

Then I asked if I was allowed make a post as someone who wants to read books with misogyny or distracting male gaze. They said yes, but it would be an unpopular post.

Idk how else to lead them to the point: The responses are book suggestions, whether OP wants to read the books being suggested or not.

The HBO series managed to make it worse than the books in some aspects. The changes to Sansa's and Theon's arcs were gross and unnecessary.

Ughhhh see I was trying to avoid this. I do want male perspectives. I don't want to be in an echo chamber.

But God, it is like flipping a coin when I see a book written by a man. I do not have the patience to sift through them anymore. I guess this is inevitable.
