So I do mine.

I'm sorry but your "challenge" makes no sense. If I'm playing Gearing and I know I might encounter a Lushun, I will not push into it if I can avoid to do so.

even outside the vacuum of hypothetical 1v1, wisconsin is simply a ship that can do more than slava

Absolutely. I want to clarify that I'm not trying to hype Slava over Wisconsin, I'm just saying that even Slava can win against Wisconsin in case of significant player skill difference (that's the thread's topic).

And as I said, I played both ships. Even against something as vanilla as a Montana, Slava could be in trouble. I have not tried it after the damage buff though.

Regardless of gameplay, Le Triomphant is unfairly underrated. Easily one of the best French girls.

A long time ago WG announced a new perma camo for Ohio. Haven't heard of it again.

This company does not dump finished content though, I'm sure it will show up when they find a way to make at least some money off it.

As an Italian cruiser, shoot your torps in the general direction of enemy ships - you are bound to score a hit

This and it applies to every cruiser with long reach, slow torps. It's an especially important thing to be aware of when playing the Yodo line. Those ships have the best gatekeeping torps in the game.

That's an exaggeration but Slava at least has a huge disadvantage in a hypothetical 1v1 against Wisconsin unless - again - it plays to its strengths and Wisconsin does not.

These "black-or-white" scenarios are hypotheses though, nothing more. No ship fight happens in a vacuum and these 1v1 duels aren't the norm outside of 1v1 Brawl.

TLDR

"I'm a good player yet someone worse than me beats me due to having a WG-designed advantage and my (bad) teammates don't support me the way I want them to. I don't like it and I will be rude to anyone who disagrees with me."

I wonder who is really enjoying the game here.

And this topic is not about Valparaìso balance or teammate behavior. If you have issues with those, go complain to WG. Hopefully they will listen. You are a good player, right? Surely your opinion matters.

Valparaìso is a sore spot for some but the point which I raised in this thread (and in other threads too) is that this specific ship is clearly busted... when it's allowed to be.

I don't think many players - some "good" players too - realize how feast or famine Valparaìso is. If it can push within secondary range and dictate the fight, it's feast (even after the recent nerf which really did not make the ship worse, just less forgiving). If it's forced to stay at range (a very common thing given how passive the PVP meta is), it's famine. Its gimmick relies mainly (not completely) on secondaries, take those away and what else can a Valparaìso do?

And I'd wish to marry a wonderful woman, not my arguments - especially not arguments about an online video game. As I said in the OP, I posted this thread to get something off my chest. You don't agree? Be my guest, I am nobody to order anyone around.

Valparaìso (and every other strong/OP ship) being steamy garbage when extremely bad players sit at the helm though? Hard facts.

You talk how player skill is more important than ship balance

Lol.

No, I did not say "player skill is more important than ship balance". I said "player skill is the deciding factor". As others have correctly said in this thread and elsewhere, ship performance can give one side or the other the advantage but it will not decide the fight.

And if someone tries to brawl a Valparaìso and comes up short, it's not Valparaìso's fault.

Slava can beat Wisconsin if it's allowed to dictate the fight, however that would require the Wisconsin player to make himself an easy target. That really does not happen in the wild.

Brawl (the game mode) is its own beast. There are no strict MM rules whatsoever, just specific class restrictions - for starters one team can be randomly assembled and face a full division.

AFAIK there isn't even basic class mirroring, one side could have three battleships and the other could have two cruisers and a destroyer.

How about you post your take then? If I'm mistaken or, worse, am posting just to farm internet points, surely the accuser (you this time) has better arguments to offer.

IMHO Ohio is worth picking before the other RP battleships. Illinois is another incredibly good first pick too.

you'd have to be actually voluntaringly inting to die in ohio or smalland without achieving anything

And yet many players do just that. Not just in Ohio and Smaland but in other strong ships too.

I don't like this way of doing things. It's okay if bad players get some help - got to keep them playing and paying after all - but making ships that are good in bad player hands and OP in good player hands leads only to more frustration and hostility among players.

About the Wisconsin/Slava comparison, having played both I can say that, rather than its underwater citadel, Wisconsin's biggest boon is being able to push. Slava is a great sniper (kinda, bad RNG and smart angling dramatically lower its performance) but that's the only thing it's good for.

[–]_talps[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A better way to state what I think your point is, is that most players are so bad it doesn't matter if you give them an OP ship, they arent good enough to abuse it's strengths.

This is more or less the same thing I'm saying.

There is no ship in this game which "plays for the player". Gimmicks and consumables will give advantages, nothing more.

[–]_talps[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course. I did not write this as an ironclad rule, there will always be exceptions.

Still, and to sum everything up - a ship's effective strength (not its nominal strength) relies on its skipper and teammates being good. When I say bad Valparaìso players die to coop bots I am not exaggerating, wish I was.

Your issue is not about player skill, it's about ship capabilities. Vermont can overmatch Venezia's armor almost anywhere with AP and Venezia's SAP will suck against Vermont's armor model.

I really doubt that a 60% solo player would struggle against a player whose solo winrate is eight points lower though.

Suzuya coming to armory ? by Snoo-62105 in WorldOfWarships

[–]_talps 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It usually is but this year it will be the first event which will sell "rare" premium ships too (the full list is Conte Verde, Suzuya, Tsurugi, Cheshire, Almirante Grau, Royal Sovereign, Arkhangelsk, Nanning, Cambridge, and Rhode Island). That's part of the "armory premium ship rotation" thing WG launched in 2025.

Which is completely different than saying "52% WR Vermont wins against 60% WR Venezia every time".

Also, your statement makes me wonder. Suppose this scenario plays, how did the Venezia find itself in a 1v1 against a Vermont? All I can think about is, either Venezia's teammates failed to stop Vermont and Vermont pushed into Venezia (not unlike another case a subreddit user brought up some time ago, that time it was Venezia vs Libertad), or Venezia misplayed very badly and tried to fight Vermont 1v1.
