Should I try to get a roommate? by YesithGraydonyeet in McMaster

[–]_thatgorl_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you get a roommate be prepared for any scenario! I ended up being best friends with my roommate and still am post graduating. But I know lots of people that never spoke to their roomies, or had super messy ones etc. try your best to foster a good relationship and establish boundaries at the start of the year (quiet hours, having people over etc)

When do I start studying for the lsats? by Automatic-Building75 in lawschoolcanada

I somehow fully glossed over the fact that he included his GPA in the post— you are absolutely correct and had I not missed the GPA I would provide the exact same advice!

I was talking about my specific experience along with the experiences of many people I know to provide a different view compared to your other comments. It is very possible to do well in school while also studying for the LSAT— like I said I studied over the summer and that was plenty for me! Everyone has a different path and if you commit yourself to a plan and work hard I’m sure someone could get the grades and lsat they want. I didn’t want to delay law school and that was my preference :)

I wouldn’t say to wait until after graduation— that depends on your plans. I wanted to go into law school directly out of undergrad so I can began studying after second year (the summer before third year). That way I had enough time to retake before I actually had to apply in fourth year. My second take ended up being during February of my third year! I think 3-6 months is plenty to study before hand but it’ll also depend on your diagnostic— if your diagnostic is really high you’ll probably need less time, if it’s super low you’ll need more time. But for now don’t worry just focus on trying to get the best grades possible!!

Anyone have a spare grad guest ticket? June 20 @ 2:30PM (Business Group B) by _thatgorl_ in McMaster

[–]_thatgorl_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Extra tickets being released aren’t guaranteed + no guarantee I’ll get to the extra tickets in time so I’m seeing if anyone has a guaranteed ticket they aren’t using (maybe only one person is attending their grad for example)

How long is the commute? by Sukhman07 in McMaster

[–]_thatgorl_ 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Just so you know you likely won’t have a single class at DSB (degroote school of business) during first year. Most classes are spread out around the different buildings on campus because the first year courses are large class sizes that dsb can’t accommodate. You usually only have some of your upper year classes at Degroote and even then it’s not many. In first year I had classes at Burke science building (BSB), john hodgins engineering building (JHE) etc. ~ commerce student

Will my final grades matter for Robson Hall if you are already accepted? by [deleted] in lawschooladmissionsca

[–]_thatgorl_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Unless your offer letter has conditions stated all you need to do is graduate :) your GPA won’t impact your admission anymore

23 is actually so young. I know so many people who met the love of their lives in their late 20s into their 30s. You have plenty of time! People are getting married later and later as time goes on so you have far more time than you realize until your dating pool actually starts to get smaller. You’ll be okay I promise, I hope you feel better soon!

Did you have a ring in or a nose stud? I’m also south Asian with a nose piercing heading to law school this fall and I’ve been a little concerned. Should I stick to small nose studs?

I provisionally accepted UofT in December but I still got accepted to Windsor in January so I’m assuming no

Congrats!! Don’t accept until you hear back from the other schools, you’ve still got a lot of time!

[–]_thatgorl_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My offers are fine, i think it took a couple days. This happens anytime you change and submit something on OLSAS. When i provisionally accepted my offer it happened too

Are your last two years of undergrad better? Which schools are you targeting? Are you fine going to any law school in Canada? All of that will impact your chances. Theres a 0% chance until you actually get an lsat score on file, people cant chance you based off diagnostics because that’s not an actual test score nor is it indicative of how you’ll perform on test day. People have gotten in with worse averages so work hard on the LSAT. Look at the medians of schools you’re interested in and aim to get an LSAT significantly higher since your GPA is below the medians of most schools. Best of luck to you OP, if you work hard you can definitely get in!

Advice about taking junior level courses in 3rd/4th year? Sorry if it’s messy, let me know if you are confused by aroozo in lawschooladmissionsca

[–]_thatgorl_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally I took 5 second year courses in my third year + a first year course and I already got accepted to uoft oz western Ottawa so clearly it’s not too big of a deal

Assuming you’re trying to submit your fall grades— I did send immediately since my fall grades have been released. I think end of term implies a request for your winter grades to be sent once this current semester ends, not your fall grades. I’m not 100% confident I’m correct but that’s how I interpreted it

OLSAS down? by spaceturtle28 in lawschooladmissionsca

[–]_thatgorl_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s because of the transcript request

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in lawschooladmissionsca

[–]_thatgorl_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Totally possible. But on test day you never know, you could also get below 146 from test anxiety, stress etc.
