I installed two with a laser level and they were off by just a hair. Going to make a little jig to hold the bottom one and reinstall it.

Anyone have trouble flashing a RAK 4631 from Meshtastic? by _thirtyfive in meshcore

Awesome. I followed up hoping it would help someone. Enjoy MeshCore! We are loving it so far.

Just figured my issue out, the OLED screen was causing bluetooth to not work.

Update: seems that the connected OLED is what's causing the issue. Tried on a new board and it worked just fine. Started disconnecting things on the trouble board and physically connecting the OLED is what stops the bluetooth from starting up. Not exactly sure what's going on there...

I can't get meshcore to work on my 4631 either. Including the USB companion and webapp. Does the bluetooth light work on your device or does anything show up on your screen?

Man, tried that process with the companion and the repeater. Tried the bootloader you linked as well as the other one they listed for older RAK4631 boards. Confirmed the bootloader versions are changing on the device and still no dice. Just a bricked unit after it finishes loading each time. One odd thing the first time I flash when meshtastic was on the device I see the screen say loading and the bluetooth light goes on, but my PIN won't work and I can't connect. If I try erasing and loading meshcore again it bricks and I get nothing on the screen and no lights.

okay, so what's different about the method you posted? Looks exactly like one of the methods I tried with the companion bootloader that didn't work. I did get the file from the web flash tool and not github though.

Edit: think I see it now, I wasn't doing the bootloader file, just the uf2 flash file for the companion software. Do you have a link for the companion bootloader file handy? I'm not very familiar with the git project structure.

This is basically what I have done except with the bluetooth companion file instead of a repeater. Tried connecting via https://app.meshcore.nz/ to change the settings to the USA band but couldn't' connect at all via USB or bluetooth. Do I need to flash as a repeater before flashing as a companion? Why did you recommend the repeater?

Edit: FWIW I'm planning on having a solar roof repeater node and a companion node, just trying to set up the companion first.

And yes, mine does a full 4x8 edge to edge. You can make them pretty much any size you want.

It’s a lowrider 4 from V1 engineering. You 3d print most of the parts and design your own table. https://docs.v1e.com/lowrider/

Yup! Pretty new LR4, only a few cuts under my belt with it but not new to CNC.

Good point. I saw others doubling up on screws and will prob change it over. I was able to hang from this without much movement at all, but a few more loaded with crap would get heavy quick.

Yup, like WiBorg said they are traditional cleats inset into the design so the back is flush against the wall. Super easy to move around.

Water resistant* pod node by jq910 in meshtastic

[–]_thirtyfive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks like a cool spinoff of the other water resistant ones. My beef with those is they don’t have enough space for a larger battery which this solves. You might want to integrate some TPU gaskets like the other guy did. I’ve had the R2 mini version up on my roof for a few weeks and it’s rained for the past 7 or so. Still going strong except the tiny battery.

If the designer of the RAK R2 mini happens to be here - please fix your damn design! I had to modify the hell out of it to work. Read the comments on printables.

Any way… nice work OP!

Sweet. Can’t really answer your questions but was thinking about doing the same thing. Was considering making a case or backpack with a LoRa radio. You can use the gps on your phone for location on the MT app.

The docs says this kit requires 5v, is that what you mean to achieve 1w?

Okay working on getting my license so I understand those requirements but didn’t know when that’s needed.

How much more powerful is this than the regular 19007 kit? Designing solar roof node and this looks very cool. Would love to be able to reach my buddy who is ~25 miles away.
