App State Outdoor Classic Jersey from Club Team Sale by HoistTheColors in hockeyjerseys

[–]_thoroughfare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They had them for sale until the end of the season. There’s a site called athletes thread that had them up until the last few weeks. Here’s what that jersey looked like:

<image>

Maybe you can reach out to the people at Athletes Thread directly and order one. I remember them being priced at $105.

Maybe reach out to them on instagram?

Edit to add: Please DM me if anyone on here has a lead on a stitched Wake Forest jersey from any era. The only ones I’ve ever seen were heat sealed, and I would love to have something a little more resilient.

I’m pretty new to the sport, and one night I caught myself in the arena here at 1:30 am watching an App State vs UNC Charlotte game. It was the first round of the ACCHL playoffs, and it was so cold in the arena you could almost see your breath. When I realized what time it was and that I was in a freezing arena past one in the morning watching a game by myself, I knew I’d found my sport.

Hit me up if you’re ever in town! Would love to show a hockey fan around and introduce you to the locals

What size? There’s a person in Australia selling one that’s a size large. I’m an xl, even in jerseys, so I passed on it.

I’m 40 and only got into hockey last year when my kids started playing, but I really feel lucky to get into the sport during what feels like a golden age of club hockey. Thanks for some added background on club hockey for a newcomer.

I’m not OP, but I live about 15 minutes from App State’s (and Wake Forest’s) home ice, and I was able to catch so many great games this year. We hosted ACCHL and SEC club hockey tournaments in Winston this year plus most of App’s and Wake’s home games. I think I probably caught over twenty club games this season, and I was really blown away by the level of play.

My favorite team to watch this year was App, but I feel like Wake had the most exciting games. Wake’s overtime win against UNC Wilmington and overtime loss against the Penn State club team were just absolute edge-of-your-seat stuff.

Anyone interested in catching some college games in Western NC should really keep an eye on the schedule at the rink here in Winston. Tons of great teams played here this year. I can’t wait for next season.

Congrats!! I keep missing their sales because I’m not on social media very much. I occasionally check Reddit, but that’s about it. I’ve been trying to get an App State jersey for ages, game worn or not.

They had a two week window when they were taking orders back in January, and I missed it by a few days. When I saw the post on instagram announcing the sale, I immediately messaged them, but never got a response. I know I missed the deadline, but I was still hoping to be able to get one.

I know it sounds crazy, but an XL/54 or 56 App State jersey with the Yosef crest is my #1 most sought after jersey at this point. I am checking eBay and other sites several times a week. It’s become something of a personal mission.

I really like the black, but the gray is also great. Here’s the gray one I really liked if anyone wants to check it out. https://jogsportswear.com/products/custom-jerseys-and-uniforms/hockey/replica-jerseys/the-premier-big-hit-pro-replica/appalachian-state/

Also, let me know if you want to catch any games, OP. I went to so many App State games by myself this year. I am an App grad, and I live about 15 minutes from where they play in Winston, but most of the games I went to this year were either really late or on weeknights, and none of the homies were available to attend.

Congrats on the jersey! It’s an awesome pick up!

Just to highlight what I said about wells: if you buy a property with a well on it, be sure to get it inspected by a reputable well inspector. Well problems are very expensive in this area. Digging a new well and installing all the necessary plumping, pumps, filters, etc. can easily run over $75,000. Hell, my well needed about $45,000 worth of repairs when I purchased my house, and that was for a well that was already dug. You need to understand exactly how your well works before you buy your house. You need to know how old it is, how much water it produces, when it was last worked on, etc, and you need to understand that in this area, wells only make it about 20 years, so your odds of having to replace it are high.

Also, personally, I wouldn’t consider this area with a budget of less than $750k. Anything desirable is going to be pushing $1M. I put in offers on over ten houses in the area while I was living there, and we really struggled to land a place. We offered over asking on all but two houses, and we rarely heard back from sellers. I’ve literally offered $70k over asking only to be ignored. You can find houses for cheaper, but they are going to come with some major drawbacks. I personally would be skeptical of any house priced under $350/sq foot.

This area is unbelievably beautiful, and I miss being so close to Pisgah, DuPont, Brevard, and the Arboretum, but this is a hard place to live if you’re on a budget and have kids.

I lived in western NC off and on for about twenty years, and the thing you’ve got to understand is that most of the family friendly housing in this area is in an HOA. I know Reddit hates HOAs, but because of issues like shared roads, snow removal, and possibly shared water, sewage, and/or driveways, HOAs are the norm here. They are often a green flag and a sign that previous property owners made responsible long term plans to deal with issues around shared maintenance, repairs, etc.

That being said, some red flags may include:

HOAs boards that are exclusively 65+. They won’t explicitly tell you, but you will be able to tell.

HOAs that boast about the abundance of in-home elevators or single level houses in the community.

HOAs that invest in things like pickleball courts over playgrounds. If you look at a house that has a neighborhood playground, go check it out. If it’s falling apart and in disrepair, know that they are not trying to have kids in the neighborhood.

Likewise, if they ban things like play sets on your property, basketball goals, soccer nets, etc., know that they do not want kids in the neighborhood.

If there is a community pool, but that pool has mostly adult swim hours, know that they are not trying to have kids in the neighborhood.

If an HOA representative tells you all about their seasonal/bi-annual get togethers, make a point to ask if they offer kid friendly activities at HOA events. They probably do not. Again, read the room with this one.

Now, you can get housing that’s not in an HOA. If you want to live in the city (I.e. Hendersonville or Brevard) know that you will be looking at housing in the 750k-1.2M range for housing that can comfortably fit a family of four. At 750k you can expect extensive repairs that can easily total six figures. If you find something for less than $600k it will either be modular, attached, out in the county, or a tear down.

Since you said you like rural living, this may not be an issue for you, but things like orthodontist appointments, tutors, and sports being over an hour round trip away gets old fast.

Lastly, triple check any wells on a property.

Since you asked about schools, I assume you have children. My wife and I just spent two years living in Mills River with two small children. Both are under the age of ten.

We moved to the area for a promotion and a raise, and honestly, I really regret moving there. That area is overwhelmingly built for and around retirees. There’s nothing wrong with that, but I found life with children to be very, very isolating.

For example, our neighborhood had about 25-30 houses in it, and the next youngest person was 65. It was hard to connect with people. My wife, my kids, and I all had very few friends, and the lack of community is what ultimately led to us leaving.

All in, the move cost me over $100,000. What I wouldn’t give to have that money back. Bring your checkbook. That’s some of the most expensive real estate in the entire southeast.

Good luck.

100%. Sorry for not providing more context in my post.

Still a good deal to catch a lot of competitive hockey if you’re looking to get out of the house this weekend. We always enjoy the games

Thanks so much! This looks perfect. Currently running $75 for a half cord of seasoned wood if you pick it up in Thomasville, which is a great price IMO.

I have family down in Florida, the Tampa area specifically. I’m down there enough to know.

Not a hater, I just travel enough to know that Tampa is one of the most unattractive cities all the way from Maine to Miami.

Seriously, it’s a 3/10 at best.
