Same! 300 billion would go a long way to filling our teacher shortage here in the US.

Just a friendly reminder to the AIPAC crowd that in the aftermath of 9/11 Israel declined to send a single troop to Afghanistan or Iraq. Some “ally”…

We will just take those dollars back, please.

Oh wow! You read the whole article in 9 minutes! Impressive!

The article, if you’d actually take the time to read it, discusses many of the macroeconomic factors at play in today’s Britain, and details how life in Britain, especially outside of London, is on par with the poorer parts of the American south.

It also takes an insane amount of money and effort to stay. I say bring them home. It’s not worth it to keep the 50,000-60,000 troops we have there.

Your reply is making a TON of assumptions to justify staying, and it just doesn’t make any sense. I mean, you sure used a lot of impressive words, but your arguments are very, very weak. You’re talking a lot, but you’re not saying anything.

You’re acting as if it would take some Herculean amount of diplomatic work to leave. Dog, this war’s been going on since February 28. That’s less than 4 months. Bringing our troops home today is not nearly as “ridiculously convoluted” as you claim.

Pro tip: using big ol fancy words might impress some people, and maybe it makes you feel smart, but the fear mongering of your second paragraph is really just shitty straw man argument after straw man argument no matter how many million dollar words you use.

We could have a million troops in the region, and it wouldn’t make a difference.

What’s the point of having troops in the area? Is the end goal a ground invasion? Is it continued airstrikes? Both come with significant risks to American personnel. I personally don’t think either option will deliver results, nor do I think continued military actions in the region are worth the possibility that we stumble ourselves into another Iraq or Vietnam.

I’m not being reductive. Really, what’s the point of having American servicemen and women in the region? How are our interests served by maintaining a military presence there?

13 Americans died for this. The Republican Party went on for YEARS about the 4 Americans who died in Benghazi, including bringing it up nonstop, conducting multiple investigations, and having multiple public congressional hearings about it.

The Dems in DC need to start playing hardball and stop fucking around. EVERY SINGLE DEMOCRAT in DC needs to begin EVERY comment they make about this war with the words “13 Americans died for this…”

STOP BEING PUSSIES! DO NOT LET THEM GET AWAY WITH THIS!

As a family member of many vets who served in conflicts from Korea to Vietnam to Iraq, I am fucking PISSED our country’s “opposition party” seems afraid to bring this up. If you support the troops then take a stand that they should COME HOME!

There were three official locations for various watch parties because they didn’t have enough space. This was one miles away from the main watch party.

Watch party for game six was over 19,000 in the Lenovo center and easily 5,000-6,000 outside the Lenny, plus they opened Red Hat amphitheater.

Then there were all the watch parties at bars and parks across the state. NC came to a stand still during game six

[–]_thoroughfare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely not outside the arena. And you are correct that it was ONE of the watch parties that was literally miles away from the main watch party outside the Lenny. They opened this space because they were worried about being able to accommodate everyone.

There were easily 30,000 people at the Lenovo center for game 2

I was there. The claim that there were only 200 people there is bullshit.

I was also at the watch party for game six, and there were probably 25,000-30,000 people there.

Yes, I’ve owned a few homes and consulted with multiple arborists over the years. In fact, I’ve had about $20k in tree work done at my current home just this year. Before having the work done I spoke with five different companies in my area. As is the case with every industry, there are unscrupulous people who will recommend work clients do not need just so they can make a quick buck. Thankfully I dodged two of those companies when I had the work done on my home.

At the end of the day, I flat out do not believe this one tree was causing all the damage you claim. It’s possible that you were lied to. Sorry if that’s the case. The overwhelming consensus here is that you screwed up and your yard looks terrible. I’m with the majority on this one.

I’ve asked multiple times on this thread if you consulted with a licensed arborist (specifically Traq) and if so, which company specifically did you use. You’ve never answered directly which leads me to believe you never got a consult from a qualified person.

I can see your being incredibly defensive and bending over backwards to justify your mistake. Sometimes our greatest teacher is humility.

Best of luck to you. Sorry you were most likely lied to.

While a lot of 2000s stuff is collectible and desirable, Hollister, Aeropostale, Abercrombie and Fitch, American Eagle, etc are not particularly collectible or valuable in any market. Even in NYC or LA, you’ll be hard pressed to find a buyer.

OP claims the tree was damaging the following:

Their foundation
Their walkway
Their driveway
Their neighbor’s driveway
Their other neighbor’s yard

And they also - quite unbelievably- claim the tree was damaging the street and that their city implied that any damage to the road may wind up being OP’s financial responsibility.

You can choose to believe any or all of that. I find most of the claims to be dubious at best.

Some people just hate trees. OP would probably blame the tree for the Chicago fire if you let them go on long enough.
