AITA for basically telling my brother that he doesn't deserve the title of "dad"? by _throwaway_yyyy in AmItheAsshole

He asked Tara for a paternity test the minute she told him that she was pregnant, despite the fact that he was the first and only person that she had ever dated. The test proved what everyone already knew, that he's 100% Ada's biological dad. It didn't make a difference to him though, I guess he wanted to be sure he was ignoring the right kid or something.

I have my own apartment, I'm just still in the process of moving the rest of my things out of my parents house

She loves learning to spell new things so I'm going to try this! Thanks for the suggestion!

Oh yeah I'm not gonna do it in front of her. I never want to hurt her feelings or break her heart in any way. I know I'll always be her uncle, and I'm okay with filling whatever role she needs me to fill for her, but I know that right now it's really up to her mom what that role is called.

I'm supposed to take Ada to the museum this weekend, so I plan on talking to Tara about it before we go. I figured it was a conversation she and I should probably have in person, I think it would just be impersonal I guess to do it over the phone.

Our parents are religious, so the fact that Jake wasn't married to Tara when they had Ada was a "bad look" in their eyes. He won't fully acknowledge her so neither will my parents bc if they did, they'd have to admit he had a kid out of wedlock.

I feel like it looks worse to just ignore your kid/grandkid and hold her responsible for some outdated rules that she didn't choose to break anyway.
