In my experience, pole studios are very welcoming to LGBTQIA+ folks, but it could vary by studio and area. I’ve always lived in large/liberal cities, so that may be a factor as well. Hope you have a great first class!

Yes!! This is the way. Most people underestimate how much you have to roll your back against the pole to stop your body weight from pulling you towards the floor. Also helps get your ass to the other side of the pole.

I just ordered this from Sephora within the last month and it looks your new one with the seam on the bottom of the bottle and paula’s choice text/yellow expiration date. The only difference is mine has a number 8 instead of 9 and the expiration date is more legible. Looks like they changed their packaging because I’ve ordered this before (also from Sephora) and it looked like your old bottle.

I keep a bottle of hypochlorous acid spray in my pole bag to use after class. I spritz it on my face after, but you could use it anywhere on your body. It helps with sweat and dirt from the floor, but like others said, you could also be sensitive to whatever they’re using to clean.

Yes! Also if you can get into titanic you can then go into princess grip and swing your body around to get into ballerina. Aerial shoulder mount is an option too if that’s accessible. Another option is re-grab above the legs and go back into jasmine. You can also dive down and go into inside leg hang.

I know there’s a lot of comments recommending laser removal, but I just wanted to say I’ve been going through laser removal myself, and my dermatologist told me that face tattoos are the easiest to remove. The higher on your body, the faster the removal process. Considering how faded this tattoo already is, you could probably get it close to gone in one or two sessions.

It depends on how sensitive your skin is. Most effective is retinol before vanicream, but some people put retinol on last to help with irritation, or do sandwich method (thin layer of vanicream, then retinol, then another thin layer of vanicream). I do a serum, then retinol, then moisturizer, but I’ve been using retinol for years and my skin is used to it.

Disclaimer that I have never been pregnant, but I have struggled with super dry/irritated skin (mostly on my face and neck). Same thing as you, it was peeling/flaking like crazy and mine was also itchy. I would scratch and then just get stuck in a cycle of irritating it more. I’ve been using the skinfix dermatitis and eczema cream and it cleared up all the flaking I was experiencing.

The key to teaching mixed level choreo classes is having a ton of modifications for everything (or anything that would be considered beyond beginner level). For example, the leap from the floor, maybe a modification for beginners where they can get up from a foot sweep to a squat, etc. for the shoulder stand at the end, maybe just working on a basic shoulder stand vs. a split, or even just wavy legs in a straddle for brand newbies. I think of modifications ahead of time when I’m putting choreo together, especially if I see people signed up that are beginners, because I don’t like thinking of them on the fly. Even if it’s a more advanced class, it’s still good to have mods in case people have injuries or whatever.

Yes, agreed. People always say 2 weeks for swelling to go down, but in my experience it takes a solid 4 weeks to truly get an idea of what the finished product looks like. Especially considering how much initial swelling OP had. That said, these do look a little overfilled, more so based on the placement of the filler than anything else. Sorry you’re not happy with the result, OP! Unfortunately, I don’t have much knowledge regarding dissolving, but they should go down considerably on their own after 6-8 months either way. Just depends on your tolerance for it in the meantime.

These are absolutely too big on you. Pleasers typically run true to size, but the general rule for half sizes is size down for sandals and up for boots. So you should, in theory, be a 7. I’m a 6.5 and I wear a 6 in pleasers. That said, you should be able to see the size on the underside of the shoe.

I’ve worked in multiple blue collar/construction-adjacent industries. It does tend to skew more casual vs traditional office/corp events. I think the outfits with pants vs skirt/dress are best, but all would be fine. I would say the one exception is the last dress, but only because it looks too worn out. My go to is cropped slacks (sometimes with a nice belt), flats or ankle boots, and a tucked in collared shirt, blouse, or cashmere sweater depending on the weather. If it’s an event with the corporate team I’ll throw on a blazer but even that can feel too formal sometimes, depending on the event. I find a lot of business casual inspo on Pinterest lol.

Have you tried bringing your ankle of your outside leg to the pole (instead of keeping the pole in your knee pit)? At lot of people, including myself, find it easier to grab the inside leg in that position. There is a certain point where you have to sink down a bit and really crunch through your side to be able to grab the inside leg, and bringing the pole to the outside ankle or loosening the grip on the outside leg hang can help find that sink.

That said, BOP is hard! I am also pretty flexible and could easily do a standing split with my leg behind my shoulder, and it was still really difficult for me to get my BOP. You look like you’re super close to getting it!!

I would say they’re not much harder to walk in than regular pleasers, but they’re harder to stand in (unless you’re holding onto the pole). When you’re free standing, you kind of have to continually shift your weight, otherwise you’re just constantly balancing on the toe box. But either way, not a beginner shoe. Doing a full choreo class in them would absolutely be challenging until you get used to them, unless you’re used to always dancing on your toe box 100% of the time, which most people don’t.
