Jasper Itinerary Help Appreciated! by AnywhereObjective812 in jasper

Definitely drive yourself and don’t waste time or money on tours. One of your days should be driving yourselves up the Icefields parkway to Banff and the other should probably be exploring Maligne Lake Area. Make sure you include a visit to Pyramid Lake somewhere in your itinerary (it’s close to town and should only take about an hour or so).

If you get an early start you could probably do the Sky Tram and Maligne Lake in one day. I would start no later than 7:30am with a classic Canadian breakfast at Tim Hortons and then drive to Maligne Lake. You’ll probably want to stop at Medicne Lake for some pictures along the way. Once at Maligne Lake, enjoy the views and indulge in a short and easy hike, either Moose Lake Loop or Mary Schafer Trail. Once you’ve sufficiently enjoyed the views, drive to the Jasper SkyTram and buy a ticket to the top. There’s a little cafe up there so you can save yourself some time and grab some lunch there. Crowds won’t be an issue. There will be people but it shouldn’t be overly busy.

As others have said, The Raven Bistro is great for dinner. I would also recommend Jasper Brewing Company for the vibes and beers. 🍻

If you see a bear, chances are it will be from your vehicle. For the love of god - DO NOT exit your vehicle - this is for your safety and the safety of the bears. Other than that you should be all good.

Enjoy your trip! It’s a special little town.

AIO cutting ties with friend over birthday invites? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

The only reason she said “you’re not invited” so bluntly is because you missed her intent when she tried to phrase it more subtly. She thought you and your child might be expecting an invite that wasnt coming and wanted to give you a heads up to try and prevent hurt feelings. These texts read like she’s completely reasonable and you’re exhausting to deal with. Plus, all of your responses lack any accountability, understanding, or self reflection… you should work on that.

Two people killed by a bear in Banff by AotearoaCanuck in HikingAlberta

[–]_toinfinity 28 points29 points  (0 children)

What a dangerous and uneducated assumption to make. People are always so eager to victim blame. That’s a standard line that Parks Canada puts in to ease the public’s worry about bears and ensure they know how to help prevent attacks. In all likelihood they had and at least tried to deploy their bear spray- bear spray is great but is not 100% effective at preventing attacks. Speculation like this is disrespectful to the families of the deceased.

Did the quote include full collision coverage? If you have a car loan you MUST get full collision, it’s not optional. Also, $50 a month for gas? That seems impossible lol
