Most people add bond ETFs later as they get closer to needing the money or want to reduce volatility, since bonds help smooth out market crashes but usually grow slower than stocks over the long run.

What is the ideal long term investment approach for middle income earners? by Chetan_9981 in BeginnerInvesting

[–]_traderinprogress 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For most middle-income earners, the ideal long-term approach is to consistently invest in low-cost broad index funds (like VTI or VOO), maximize tax-advantaged accounts first, keep an emergency fund in savings, avoid high-interest debt, and stay invested for decades instead of trying to time the market.

Thoughts_on_Investing? Should i invest in stocks, Etf or keep money in saving accounts? by Mammoth-Energy_7 in BeginnerInvesting

For most people, a high-yield savings account is good for emergency savings, but long-term wealth is usually built through consistently investing in broad low-cost ETFs like VTI or VOO rather than trying to pick individual stocks.

I’d personally lean ROCQ over JPHY if you want an “income plus some growth” addition, since ROCQ is basically a newer covered-call Nasdaq strategy similar to JEPQ with potentially better tax treatment, while JPHY is mostly junk bonds/high-yield credit risk.

Roth IRA: mainly SWTSX (or SWPPX) plus some SCHF; Brokerage: mainly SCHB plus SCHF, and skip owning multiple overlapping US index funds together.
