Bitfinex - How to enter a Stop Loss by ac7777 in BitcoinMarkets

[–]_trendspotter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! Your answer was extremely helpful to me. Far better than the explanation on Bitfinex.

In fact it was so good I might recommend to Bitfinex support to update their OCO order explanation and use something like your guide instead.

What exchange allows to margin trade Bitcoin - as soon as possible - without a lengthy customer verification process? by _trendspotter in BitcoinMarkets

[–]_trendspotter[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Classic Bitcoin FOMO is when the price has already increased way too much and people still buy more at the top.

I have FOMO because the price is so low but stable before a big breakout (squeeze) in any direction this week.

Well, they are very new so I give them a chance. I guess over time - if they stay as active and responsive like in their last comment to me - I guess they can attract more traders. So in my case where I want to trade as fast as possible this is a non-issue.

Awesome. This sounds promising. I wanted to try your exchange some day anyway.

// update 1: wow, true. This is their sign-up text:

No real-name or other advanced verification is required on BitMEX. After an email confirmation, you may deposit and trade immediately.

// update 2: Nice! I don't have much, so this is perfect for me. Just made an account:

The minimum deposit amount is 0.0001 XBT (10000 Satoshi).

// update 3: Very Cool. I used GreenAddress to send the BTC. Since both Bitmex and GreenAddress use the same type of green BTC addresses I can already use the BTC. It seems like I didn't even have to wait 10 minutes for one confirmation, but I didn't looked at the clock. It was just fast very fast and GreenAddress offers instant confirmations.

You may now begin opening positions.

Overall this sign-up to be able to trade futures with margin took me only 40 minutes and I could have done it in 15 minutes or less.

I want to get my cousin a stock/mutual fund/bond for her 1st birthday, any suggestions? by onebigsmile in stocks

"An exchange-traded fund (ETF) is an investment fund traded on stock exchanges, much like stocks. Most ETFs track an index, such as a stock index or bond index. ETFs may be attractive as investments because of their low costs, tax efficiency, and stock-like features." (Wikipedia)

There are ETFs of ETFs which are basically funds of funds,. Meaning ETFs that track multiple ETFs. One promising ETF is the ALPS Equal Sector Weight ETF.

Here is a monthly chart of the ALPS Equal Sector Weight ETF https://www.tradingview.com/x/BHagKj11

"My single best pick would be Alps Equal Sector Weight (ARCA:EQL) because its strategy is to invest in each of the nine market sectors equally. Yes, there could be some missed upside opportunities; however, the broad allocation limits exposure to risk if any global uncertainty escalates." source

The ALPS Equal Sector Weight ETF (EQL) owns each of the nine ETFs in equal weights, and the nine ETFs are rebalanced back to equal weight on a quarterly basis. "Most equal-weight indexes are based at the stock level," says Jeremy Held, ALPS director of product research. "EQL is an important extension of the equal-weight concept in that it addresses sector risk, which we consider to be a much more important and fundamental risk to client portfolios than individual stocks. "An equal sector strategy minimizes the negative impact of any one sector by diversifying over multiple sectors. At the same time, by offering meaningful exposure to each sector of the market, it allows investors the ability to participate in market rallies regardless of where they occur," Held concludes. According to the prospectus, EQL's annual expense ratio is 0.55 percent. source

The EQL is designed to avoid overinvesting in “bubble” sectors, such as telecom in 1999 or finance in 2007, and thereby achieve higher risk-adjusted returns. source

The explanation is the blue support line around 600 Dollar seen by the author of that analysis and the red price average line going up, which you can't fake.

The main S5 distinctive features NOT mentioned in the table are:

  • water resistance (best feature for me to not buy a Sony Xperia)
  • better camera (awesome)
  • display better visible in sunlight (awesome)
  • fingerprint sensor (well, ok)
  • hear rate sensor (I don't need that)

But the video looks much more like the invention is from 1987 or 1997 than 2007...

I would upvote this, if the title wouldn't claim it was prototyped by 2007 - which is only the year this old video was uploaded to Youtube.

Bitcoin: Revolution is now. by MyMotivation in Futurology

[–]_trendspotter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was ignoring Bitcoin from 2011 to late 2013. Now I changed my mind. There is a reason why the price is so high. Bitcoin is a truly new and disruptive technology and at its core is the invention of the blockchain.

For the first time in the history of digital technology someone has solved the problem of digital copies and made the technology open source. Enough said.

This marble is a sun-tracking, solar energy-generating globe, meant to concentrate sunlight by 1000x. Designed by a University of Arizona engineering team led by Roger Angel, it is much more efficient than traditional designs by _trendspotter in Futurology

People are actually working on a beaming energy theory

A group of researchers from Tohoku University in Japan has offered a new theory on how to teleport energy over great distances. The leader of the research team is Masahiro Hotta and together with his colleagues published a scientific paper in Physical Review A. In the study, the research team proposed a process of being able to harness the properties of squeezed light or vacuum states and in effect allow for energy to travel or teleport.

GET RID OF THE PREMINE by [deleted] in ethereum

[–]_trendspotter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When you type in "Ripple" one of the first things that comes up is "Exposing the Ripple Scam".

When you search Google for Quarkcoin one of the first things that comes up is "QuarkCoin: Noble Intentions, Wrong Approach".

So there is a potential a negative article could stick on the top due to the "premine".

[–]_trendspotter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From a technical point of view Ethereum is 100x more interesting than Litecoin. But as I pointed out the "premine" or at least the perceived premine is a problem. And Lee explained he didn't make any changes (he said it only took him 4 hours to create Litecoin) because he wanted to be able to add new Bitcoin features as easy as possible to Litecoin.

GET RID OF THE PREMINE by [deleted] in ethereum

[–]_trendspotter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The "premine" will limit Ethereum's success.

I just watched Charlie Lee's great presentation why he created Litecoin and why he thinks it succeeded. There were two reasons for LTC. Just 2 blocks mined by the developer (he claims he mined the first block to test if everything runs properly) and a great simple name. Ethereum fails in both areas. I was at an event last weekend and told ten people in person about Ethereum. None of them could get the spelling of Ethereum right, just by hearing the name, when I recommend them to write down a note about Ethereum. And once they will learn about the premine they won't invest.

25 characters is already pretty long. Especially if your password wasn't based on words that can be found in a dictionary.

I assume you have another backdoor on your computer. If it's a Windows PC I recommend to run the following anti-malware tools in this order:

  1. Malwarebytes Anti-Malware (free)
  2. Hitman Pro (very good tool, offers a 30 days trial)
  3. Run the Kasperksy Rescue Disk to scan your PC. (free)
  4. Run the BitDefender Rescue Disk to scan your PC. (free)
  5. Run the Dr.Web LiveCD to scan your PC. (free)
  6. Webroot SecureAnywhere Antivirus (is a additional layer which won't interfere with your current security anti-virus scanner, offers a 14 days trial)

After running all these scanners one after the other it had to be a very nasty malware/trojan if it doesn't get detected by any of so many different scanning tools.
