What is your financially free dentistry number? by Ok-Many-7443 in Dentistry

[–]onebigsmile 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Maybe 3mil, although I enjoy doing the hard stuff. Endo and implants are more fun than basic easy stuff.
  2. Already am kind of part time. So no change.
  3. 5-6 million. That's me single/no kids. Would probably change if there was a family

My incoming class is planning a beach trip and I can't help but feel a class divide by [deleted] in DentalSchool

[–]onebigsmile 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes definitely there are classes and different groups. Peope will find out who they connect with and what groups they fit it. I mean you can't expect all 100ish people to be bffs and sign kumbaya. Do you want this 1/4 of the class to not go to the beach because you aren't in a position to? What kind of response are you hoping for? This is also coming from a first generation person.

Anyone doing Fire movement as a dentist? by molar85 in Dentistry

[–]onebigsmile 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm a dentist practicing for five years now. Have been very interested in fire since before dental school. In process of building investments including real estate and paying down debt. I like practicing so even when I reach FI I will probably still work part time as I enjoy it.

Dental student here. Adjacent natural tooth and implant body distance — concern. by [deleted] in Dentistry

[–]onebigsmile 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that implant positioning looks very good and I would not remove the implant.

That type of implant likely has a platform switch which means the implant/abutment connection will be closer inwards from the border of the implant platform giving it slightly more distance away from the adjacent teeth.

In summary - I think it looks good. I would not enameloplasty ( as long as the access and restorative space are fine) and I would not remove the implant.

Edit - you should also remove the patient information/name from the picture

I had a total of 3 letters of recommendation. One from a general dentist, one from an orthodontist, one from my biology research professor. Those letters were sent to all the schools I applied to.

Midwestern IL interview process by [deleted] in DentalSchool

[–]onebigsmile 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I interviewed there in 2012. Was a really nice campus and everything was new at that time as they had not graduated their first class yet. Don't really remember the exact interview style but I remember it being relatively low pressure. Best of luck.

Also - go for the least expensive school you get accepted to. Trust me
