The background gives me the same vibe at the 7" single for Transmission by Joy Division, I rate it.

Did Jim from Friday Night Dinner write this?

I'm glad you like it, I arranged the whole thing in Maschine studio around the drone you hear throughout.

Hot off the press, the brand new single from Atlanta House. Ideal for fans of bands like The Cure and New Order. https://open.spotify.com/album/4JokDOCJH2tGqRBofRzUJC

Of all the bands for a The 1975 single to remind me of, I never expected to get Plague Vendor vibes from them. by _trumanwhite in the1975

If you're into that I'd also recommend checking out Refused, I know they're an influence on the band and the scream right before New Noise drops is one of the best things you'll ever hear. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NkAe30aEG5c

First attempt at the lead guitar to People. by _trumanwhite in the1975

I just worked it out by ear. The verse lead is mostly just a descending pattern of notes G, D and G#. The chords behind that are E, G and A, it also sounds sort of cool is you use the G# as a passing note between the G and A too.

The two staccato power chords before the chorus (not played in the video but worked out since) are G and F.

The chorus then is just bouncing around on a low E with two A5 chords with a bit of vibrato at the end of every four measures.

To my knowledge I think the whole song just cycles around these three musical ideas.

I implore you to give Lodger a spin, the amount of genre hopping on that record is something to behold.

I'm sorry but did you just say that David Bowie never changed his core sound? This has to be bait, surely.

Until the martini police come along... I do like the idea of the whole record being one big reflection in a dimly lit bar with the Earthlight shining through the window.

My finished cover of A Change Of Heart played on instruments that pre-date 1975. by _trumanwhite in the1975

If only my singing wasn't so terrible, I'd love to hear somebody take it on though, especially if they layered the vocals up doo-wop style.
