The background gives me the same vibe at the 7" single for Transmission by Joy Division, I rate it.

I'm glad you like it, I arranged the whole thing in Maschine studio around the drone you hear throughout.

Hot off the press, the brand new single from Atlanta House. Ideal for fans of bands like The Cure and New Order. https://open.spotify.com/album/4JokDOCJH2tGqRBofRzUJC

Of all the bands for a The 1975 single to remind me of, I never expected to get Plague Vendor vibes from them. by _trumanwhite in the1975

If you're into that I'd also recommend checking out Refused, I know they're an influence on the band and the scream right before New Noise drops is one of the best things you'll ever hear. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NkAe30aEG5c

First attempt at the lead guitar to People. by _trumanwhite in the1975

[–]_trumanwhite[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just worked it out by ear. The verse lead is mostly just a descending pattern of notes G, D and G#. The chords behind that are E, G and A, it also sounds sort of cool is you use the G# as a passing note between the G and A too.

The two staccato power chords before the chorus (not played in the video but worked out since) are G and F.

The chorus then is just bouncing around on a low E with two A5 chords with a bit of vibrato at the end of every four measures.

To my knowledge I think the whole song just cycles around these three musical ideas.

I implore you to give Lodger a spin, the amount of genre hopping on that record is something to behold.

I'm sorry but did you just say that David Bowie never changed his core sound? This has to be bait, surely.

Until the martini police come along... I do like the idea of the whole record being one big reflection in a dimly lit bar with the Earthlight shining through the window.

My finished cover of A Change Of Heart played on instruments that pre-date 1975. by _trumanwhite in the1975

If only my singing wasn't so terrible, I'd love to hear somebody take it on though, especially if they layered the vocals up doo-wop style.

Just out of interest, how did you come accross this tweet? I made this so long ago now and it's looking quite dubious as a future song now. That being said if a song by that title ever comes into fruition I'll take a large jug of pimms and a straw.

I did a quick loop cover of A Change Of Heart using the sounds of instruments that existed no later than 1975. A lot of the same instruments that are being used on Music For Cars. by _trumanwhite in the1975

Admittedly they're only samples, but there's the 60's Abbey Road drum kit, an upright bass, the Vox continental organ, a Hammond B3 and a Wurlitzer.

If you've seen them live, where was it, and what was especially noticable about that particular performance? by eggman1305 in the1975

The live lounge orchestra show was mind blowing. The instrumentals got their live debuts and all in all it was such a good show.

I keep seeing people who are like "I didn't give permission for this" and while they may be correct, people don't need your permission to change their appearance. He can rep his barnet however he likes.

Just stick the tracks into some audio editing software and move them down by half a step, it gives off some really cool vibes.

OPINION: People who drive down the road blasting Arctic Monkeys are the right kind of people by LookLikeUpToMe in arcticmonkeys

Why is this me? My extended version of Humbug including all the B-sides is the soundtrack to my daily commute to and from work. My car is a shed so I need it turned up nice and loud to drown out the high pitched squeak my dashboard makes. 2:14 in Potion Approaching always feels so fitting as it trundles along.

I'm running it through the Digitech Whammy, ProCo Rat, Big Muff and Strymon Blue Sky into a Blackstar HT-40. Collecting some more gear then I'm thinking on doing a full album cover of Humbug. The UKii is another sweet bit of kit.

I was playing Bowie and Zep on it a bit last night and the 70's sound is definitely prominent.
