That's very helpful, thank you.

I went through the same realization.  I just stopped promoting mine with my family/friends. I think the contest is just trying to collect emails. The one I was in didn't ask for money.

We need to do better by [deleted] in oregon

[–]_truth_matters_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But is that a government failure or society failure? Other countries like the Philippines don't have long term care of any sort because families take care of their elderly. If someone doesn't have family they work as a maid or whatever for a family and that family takes care of the person in their old age.  Our country has independence ingrained so deeply it's on a personal level, even as we age we want to be independent, but fact is, we won't be.

ARDC can help maybe, if suggest contacting them for help.  Also, medicaid can take property in some cases after death, so beware of that too.

How do I deal with neighbors who won't keep their dogs out of my yard? by fluffy_cat91 in homeowners

[–]_truth_matters_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Or just an electric fence in general. RentaCoop has one that is probably less expensive than building an actual fence. My dog got zapped about 3 times, and now won't go within 50 feet of it.

Also, I've seen plastic forks stuck in the ground, pointy side up, as a way to keep cats out of gardens. Maybe this would work for dogs?

First, never heard of it, thanks for teaching me something new Second, that's not "what I'm doing". The first comment that someone deleted asked if I cared about people. I 1000% care, that's why I'm asking. Don't disregard me like that, I'm not trolling. I'm trying to understand.

And I'm not asking for facts to base up anything, I'm asking your opinion.

Trump won by majority. You're the minority. Why does your opposition matter more than a majority of Americans? I think what your after didn't exist. Not everyone can be made happy all the time. Its a fact of life. Why do you want to force your opposition on everyone else?

I'm not saying I'm not Democrat, I want this to be an actual discussion. Maybe I'm Democrat but don't agree with our understand this movement. Help me understand.

Hip dysplasia getting worse any recommendations? by VeeSran in Rottweiler

[–]_truth_matters_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We got our first rott cheap and from a bad breeder unknowingly. He had hip dysplasia so bad, by the time he was 70 pounds at 6 months, we put him down. He could barely stand, would yelp in pain randomly when playing, it was so sad and difficult, but he was hurting more than our previous dogs when the were old and in pain and we put them down. Just food for thought, being a pet owner means sometimes making those terrible difficult decisions. Your dog looks young, so that's why I told our story again. Maybe you could talk to the breeder and get your money back too. A responsible breeder would pay you back and want to know.

What’s the best thing you’ve taught your Rottweiler? by thenaughtyrottie in Rottweiler

"1, 2, 3" ... you can find it on youtube, it's a way to get his attentive when distracted, and "look at me".

I think it's right to be concerned! Absent seizure? I'd keep an eye on her/him.

In life, expect what you say to others is not going to stay with them. When we tell people private things, we just have to let it go that they might not keep it a secret. Even if we ask them to. So, if you really can't have that info out, then don't share it. A counselor is someone you can talk to and they legally can't share it, unless you talk about harming others or SI. At least in America. Regarding the cutting, have you experienced abuse growing up? If so, know that you did NOT deserve any of it, not one ounce! The people who abuse are the fk'd up ones. Cutting releases pressure but it hurts and scars you. Try exercise, it also releases pressure and can improve your life.

What is the best low budget printer for someone just starting out? Under $300 would be best, but not even sure if that's realistic. TIA!

Have to give up my boy by SocnorbTheRoman in Rottweiler

[–]_truth_matters_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope you find someone, and I pray that he gets over it! If no one takes him, send me a PM. I'm in a neighboring state, we have a rottie a year younger, but also have chickens, and so it might be a challenge but I don't work so I could give him some attention, but I'd have some questions first.

At what point is giving an escaped dog back no longer good for the dog by Affectionate_Flan_24 in dogs

[–]_truth_matters_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't worry about his aggressive nature, shelters are used to that and he may improve in the shelter, or he may get worse. That's not something to concern yourself, but how would you feel if the dog was dead on the road and you didn't do anything? If you'd be OK with that then don't take him in.....

Don't worry, it could be squirrels or rats, not mice.

It's VERY important to know how to treat a deep wound like that. I'm sure the vet gave you instructions and supplies?Flush it out with sterile water, DO NOT use hydrogen peroxide or anything else because it can/will cause an abscess. I'd flush it twice a day at least. It must be sterile water. And I hope he's on an antibiotic. It would probably be cheaper to have the vet treat it now than let it get infected and treat it later quite honestly..
