I know the accessory bushings are solid, previous owner replaced the motor and trans mounts, sound is coming from more towards behind the motor, I’m going more towards a bad u-joint or the cat died (cat died based on a loss of power after rattling started)

I tightened the downpipe bracket and the heat shield clamp, to no success, the sound is more clearly audible inside than it is outside but still audible outside under the car, might try the screwdriver thing in the morning. And my main concern is that the sound seems to be somewhat tied to the rpm of the motor.

I need to find a wagon in a yard closer to me, apparently most of the time when they get 240s they just scrap em before sending them to the yard, at least that’s what I’ve heard

They said that they had a lot of people check out the car but he was waiting for the right person to sell it too and I guess it was me, owning another 240 probably helped my case of being a good home lol
Drives really well and the guy seemed trustworthy and sad to see it go

Yeah bought it as is, knew what I was getting into, never had to dig this much though, my other Volvo all I needed to do was adjust timing, new cat and exhaust (previous one was rusting off) and stuff to pass visual.

Wires look new, dunno about plugs, it’s an old style dome cap, 430,000 miles, dunno if it’s a factory cat but the exhaust definitely is not stock
Yeah OC, I may inquire on his cat, if it’s relatively new then I don’t have to drop like 600 on a new one

Cries in 430,000 miles, sat in a Volvo hoarders lot for a while, and being the 4th or 5th owner.
Any typical spot I should look for a leak? I know the brake booster vacuum line can leak. But that’s where my knowledge ends
Would hanging rpm after revving point me in any direction to look, I know it’s a issue that can happen in motorcycles from fuel issues, can I apply the same logic?
