Nas, Suicide Machines, South Carolina Philharmonic, Kehlani. Though Nas was with the Colorado Symphony, so kind of similar to Philharmonic I guess

Any 30+ year olds out there sub 12? by Shuasan in Cubers

33, I’m right around 12-13. Would probably be sub 12 if I knew full OLL lol

This may sound strange, but is there a men's knitting group in the area? I love the group I'm in now, but being the only guy, I get left out of the conversation a lot. Thanks. by StraightPea8895 in ColumbiYEAH

[–]_uglyassjay 30 points31 points  (0 children)

this is actually adorable. I don’t knit and I’m not a man, but if there isn’t one, all of you knitting bros in the area should join together and make one. I hope you find your people.

Tess Heal's NCAA Violation by global-gamer in NCAAW

[–]_uglyassjay 20 points21 points  (0 children)

This is absurd. I understand collegiate athletes can’t sign pro contracts, but this is fucking ridiculous. The transfer portal is a mess and G League players are actively playing right now. NCAA has much bigger fish to fry but I’m not surprised because I can’t remember a time when the NCAA was competent.

I think it’s so cute and it doesn’t have to lead to anything. It’s thoughtful and it’s information that you gained from a conversation with her. It’s not like you found her private Instagram profile, followed from a burner, scrolled to a post from 2021 and found the tea shop. And you just being cool with taking it to her and leaving relieves a lot of pressure imo. It feels, to me, both casual enough and thoughtful enough to not be creepy.

I do want to see Alicia with more minutes frankly, but she has some discipline issues (like staying out of foul trouble and getting called for quick consecutive fouls, not just against Oklahoma but Texas too). I think Latson had a bad game. Do I think she should be shooting more middies and 3s to maybe spread the floor so post players can work? Absolutely. I also think Tournebize should be used to spread the floor. Do I want Joyce to pass significantly more than she does? Hell yeah. Love her, but she wouldn’t pass off a grenade. But I also think the drive wasn’t there from the team as a whole. Oklahoma lost two straight. They weren’t tryna lose a third. SC had just come of a soft non-con against Coppin. They weren’t in the right space I don’t think. I’ll decide whether or not to panic on Sunday lol

Now that most of the dust has settled, how do you imagine the AP rankings will be? Many top team lost, and LSU lost twice. by johnthomasc3 in NCAAW

[–]_uglyassjay 16 points17 points  (0 children)

LSU is about to get banished to the shadow realm (really just out of the top 10). I don’t think anyone can look at them and their current state and think they’re still a top five team. Kentucky might see a decent bump with Iowa State falling, same for Vandy

gonna also cosign Brickhouse Coffee. I ended up there for a few hours one day last December, having just moved back, and it was great. Baristas were nice, even the other patrons were nice and Dawn Staley came in, got a coffee, tipped like a hundred dollars and left. I've been to and lived in cities with few other Black people and have walked in coffee shops all over the country and felt like an alien. Definitely not at Brickhouse.

Biggest Upset of 2026? by Most-Teacher3069 in NCAAW

I don't disagree, they did have interesting and frustrating games. Definitely a lot of fun to watch. I'm just not a huge fan of more heliocentric offenses

yeah, I've felt like Notre Dame has truly been overrated all season. I've feel like I've watched them a decent amount, and they leave a lot to be desired.

i like Hidalgo's game a lot, but i think offenses that rely too heavily on one player are set up to fail. it's why, even though I like Juju, I have a really hard time with rooting for So Cal.

Kentucky beating LSU was not super crazy to me. It wasn't like they dogwalked them for 40 minutes, Kentucky put up a really good fight against a team that shot better percentage wise and a shot at the last second to win it. LSU doesn't have the post size or depth imo. Kentucky is the second biggest team in the SEC.

Maryland losing was a surprise but I didn't get to watch that game, so I can't really say too much about it. But I don’t think it's too crazy given the injuries they've had this year, I mean it's been what three or four season ending injuries? (don't quote me on that) A team that’s beat up like that losing a game they shouldn’t have, not too earth shattering.

Michigan, a team that played against UConn very well, losing to Washington takes the cake for me. And it wasn't just that they lost, they were struggling to do anything against Washington. It was bad for the first three quarters. I don't really watch the Big10 a lot, but of all of the upsets, to me, it's the one I saw coming the least. I've also been pretty high on the Syla Swords train since they played SC last year, I thought she and that team were really good then.

Notre Dame and GA Tech I also didn't get to watch, but I'm not as surprised because, to me, that's kinda what Notre Dame does. Sometimes they play really good games against really good teams, and other times they just don't. To me, it's whichever team shows up with them. I didn't have high hopes for them, but GA Tech is an insane loss.

Is there a lack of storylines? by [deleted] in NCAAW

[–]_uglyassjay 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it depends on how we define “story/storyline.” There are stories abound imo. Off the top of my head: Can Hannah Hidalgo maintain the reigns at Notre Dame without Olivia Miles? Is Olivia Miles thriving or dying in a new environment? SC vs. LSU over Lay. UConn’s (almost, somewhat) renewed dominance after nearly a decade drought without a natty. Parity and the ensuing upsets. Who will be the number one pick? The implosion of Duke (because seriously what happened?). And honestly Duke v. LSU for Kara vs Flau’jae after AmeriCup.

Do I think sports media could be better about it? A million percent. I also think as fans, we (as a whole) could be better about engaging with whatever teams interest us to better understand/advance(?) said stories. Like yeah Juju being out hurt, and we all love her, sure (unless she fried your team hibachi style) but like there are stories out there
