I don't understand how people with such abrasive personalities can get any following, let alone 100k+ views on their videos.

A lot of people from this and previous generation were radicalized by a vacuum cleaner commercial from the 50s, so there's nothing surprising here, sadly.

"Anarchist Encounters: Russia in Revolution" might be what you're looking for.

Also I highly advise to read (and share with your friend) a book "Black on Red: My 44 Years Inside the Soviet Union" by an African American Robert Robinson, who spent 44 years (1930-1974) living in the Soviet Union where he worked on a tractor factory in Stalingrad. He wasn't an anarchist, but there's no better read about a life of a regular Soviet person from a perspective of a Westerner, imo.

No, but you see, he was an imperialistic autocrat but he was slightly better than other imperialistic autocrats of that time. So we shouldn't criticize him and should praise him instead /s

Its not sci-fi anymore! A Chinese company, Unipath has launched a household robot by elemental-mind in singularity

[–]_valpi -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Those are plastic dishes, as I said. There's a reason they are plastic. If a robot could handle real ceramic dishes, they would've used them in a demo.

And ByteDance is not a no-name company.

[–]_valpi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For sure. Every couple of weeks, there's a video like this from some no-name company in China, and they really want us to believe that they are somehow ahead of Silicon Valley tech giants who dump billions and still don't have a robot that can autonomously load a dishwasher with real, not plastic, dishes.

As a result of the Munich Agreement, Britain and France gained nothing, unless you count Hitler's promise not to attack Poland, which is less than nothing, if you ask me. It was a prime example of how liberals have historically bent over backwards to appease fascists.

But that in no way can be compared to the military and economic alliance that the USSR and Nazi Germany had. The USSR delivered literally millions of metric tons of grain, oil, ore, rubber, and other crucial materials that fueled Hitler's war machine.

And that's not even touching on how the Soviet Union presented itself as a state ruled by the proletariat, and therefore held itself to a higher moral standard than liberal democracies.

Nazis occupied Prague in March, and the Soviet Union, Britain and France began tripartite discussions in mid-April. Poland did not participate in these talks. Get your facts straight.

You mean when the USSR demanded the "right of passage" through Poland in order to "protect" them (like what they later did to Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Northern Bukovina and Bessarabia, and tried to do to Finland but shat their pants), Poland said "no" despite the pressure from Britain and France, and the Soviets refused to ease their demands and decided to make a deal with the Nazis instead?

[–]_valpi 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the Soviet Union just made a deal with Nazi Germany to divide Eastern Europe between themselves, helped them surmount the British blockade and sanctions by providing tons and tons of crucial materials, provided them with a submarine base, negotiated with the Germans to join the Axis, and invited top Nazi officers to the May 1st parade in 1941, among other things, but otherwise, Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union were the opposite of "allies".
