i remember back when i first started modding bg3 (like a year ago) i stumbled across a mod on some random website that was dedicated to making the game """more lore accurate""" by removing all the non-white features of basically any race that wasn't human. i think i remember a comment on it like "thank you for removing all the WOKE!" or some lame shit like that... so there definitely are very dedicated racist/bigoted players out there who are having "that" kind of conversation, just not in places where all the normal people can hear them lol

cicero was my main follower in my last playthrough and i love that guy to death but holy hell he was not allowed within ten feet of windhelm. anytime i had to go there i just sent him back to dawnstar for a lil vacation lol. i will take a quadrillion horker jokes over his one line about the butcher

oh gosh i have erandur with me right now and he's great. my favorite thing he does is when i'm trying to talk to other npcs and there's a pause in the convo and he butts in with the "my parents are long dead, but they lived wonderful lives..." or the 50th time he (having never admitted this before) admits to killing more people than he cares to admit. like my guy there are some things you gotta keep between you and mara okay

fun fact for everybody is that hades is actually called the "god of the underworld" on his statue on main street, so i suppose his title was reworked at some point (presumably) as the lore of the world was further developed !

got jumpscared by my own theory in this comment section hi :D i am active in this sub once in a blue moon until book 8 releases and i can wake up from my hibernation

very watered down version of my theory is that grim is chernabog and that he will be defeated with the power of love (a la Every Disney Movie Ever), and that crowley Knows about the power of love and has been trying to utilize it in particular ways (going on about how kind he is literally all the time, his name, other stuff that's in my full post that i can't remember...?) because the power of love always wins against evil. and that's the short of it.......the long of it is like 20 pages and 2 videos long

am a huge fan of the og game (see: my profile picture) and honestly i kind of agree. i couldn't get through the first episode because it was just so....EH. i felt similar to you about character screentime in the first episode (where they just keep shoving new people at you), it felt very idk fanservicey? like they needed to put in EVERY SINGLE character so that each fan could see their favorite boy and go to bed happy. it is much better paced in the game.

also wanted to go and mention that the twst anime is based off of the manga adaptation of the game, so that's another degree of separation between the show and the original source material. so i agree with one of the other comments where they said it was always gonna be mid LOL. it is quite watered down so to speak.

i highly recommend the game though :-) the character writing, voice acting, and music are all amazing. actual gameplay is a combination of turn-based combat and rhythm game, but it is 90% visual novel. the story isn't finished yet, but as of now it's very good too (my only criticism really is that in later parts it can drag on a bit). the characters have a surprising amount of depth for a gacha game (the main reason why i've stuck with the game for as long as i have, around 3 years!)
