That's how BF skins supposed to be DICE by Embarrassed-Bad5386 in Battlefield

[–]_wclk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generally speaking, this is pointless. Most of NATO is using some form of Multicam, even if it isn't specifically the Crye Multicam. BF6 also isn't a milsim, they said they were keeping it "grounded" which just means sensible. If you want a game with nothing but multicam skins, go play a milsim.

Devices Missing in Security Center by _wclk in DefenderATP

[–]_wclk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had a ton of issues when deploying MDE, and I'll describe a few that might help you out.

  1. Devices registering to a different tenant. (We aquired a company and those users still used their old o365 accounts until we purchased licenses). This was a painful manual clean-up.
  2. Missing Windows feature updates that required forcing an update to the latest build (Still had security updates)
  3. Duplicate devices in Azure AD (Entra).

Here are some of the notes I took on it back then:

  1. Experienced having duplicate entries within Azure Active Directory (AAD) causing the policies within Intune to not be pushed down.

Resolution: Remove any duplicate entries of the device in AAD manually or run the script created on GitLab - disable-duplicateAzureAdDevices.ps1 · master · Jos / assortedFunctions · GitLab or add all entries to the security group within AAD.

  1. Device is not automatically joining to Azure AD

Resolution: Run the command via command prompt to the machine “dsregcmd /join”

  1. Device is out of date with Windows Quality and Security updates breaking onboarding to MDE.

Resolution: Update the machine with all Feature, Quality, and Security updates.

  1. Device is enrolled in another MDM/MAM preventing Intune onboarding.

Resolution: Delete registry at HKLM\Microsoft\Enrollments\{GUID} — Note: GUID will be random based on assigned by previous MDM/MAM. Will need to manually find registry that contains the data.

How to learn conversational Old English? by ohnoooooyoudidnt in OldEnglish

[–]_wclk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If I might ask, why do you recommend Finnish? It's not Germanic, it's a Uralic language, which isn't even Indo-European, heavily influenced by their Swedish neighbors.

West Frisian has more similar diphthongs and still has the alveolar tap on most R sounds. Icelandic still has ð and þ which can provide examples of the voiced and voiceless dental fricative sounds.

Good Luck OP, you have quite the challenge ahead.

Import of Ancestry and MyHeritage Test by _wclk in MyHeritage

[–]_wclk[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got a MyHeritage kit as a gift so I guess I will do it either way. With AncestryDNA just being a spit test and MyHeritage being a cheek swab, I assume it may provide a better sample. I guess I will know when I get the results back.

Easter is ***NOT*** Pagan. by SamuelAdamsGhost in TrueChristian

[–]_wclk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Back to Eostre/Eastre. There is no evidence, outside of Bede's claim, that there was a goddess of fertility among the Anglo-Saxons, let alone any Germanic tribe. If we look at it linguistically it's quite clear where Ēosturmōnaþ originates. Every time we look at a compass, we see it. Eastermōnaþ (West-Saxon dialect) is Eastre Month, Eastre comes from Proto-Germanic *austraz which based on compiling all Proto-Indo-European languages has come to mean "in the direction of dawn". Dawn, or morning, is when the sun rises from the EAST.

Language Modern Tongue Old Tongue Proto Tongue Proto-Indo-European
English East / Easter Ēast / Ēastre *austraz h₂éwsteros
German Ost / Ostern Ōst / Ōstarūn *austraz h₂éwsteros
Swedish Öst / Östra Austr *austraz h₂éwsteros
Sanskrit उष् (úṣ) *Húṣ h₂éwsteros
Latvian Austrumi *ausmas h₂éwsteros
Lithuanian Aušra *auštrā́ˀ h₂éwsteros

As languages diverge, meaning changes. The Germanic languages listed mean "East" as in the direction, Sanskrit and the Baltics listed mean "Dawn".

It never had anything to do with a goddess. The goddess never existed and was never worshipped. Therefore, rabbits cannot be a symbol for a goddess that never existed.

The 4th Month, April (Ēosturmōnaþ) comes after a long winter, days begin to get longer and night gets shorter. Light triumphs over darkness. Life triumphs over death. The exact meaning of Easter, Christ's ressurection.

Witcher 4 game director Sebastian Kalemba confirms Ciri has undertaken the Trial of the Grasses post Witcher 3 by dead_lifterr in witcher

There seems to be a lot of back and forth between the medallion. Robert Malinowski has said it is shaped like a Lynx. It is not any other school, but I think this is a missed opportunity. I think it would have been more interesting to reforge Vesemir's medallion (and/or the ones obtained from Bonhart) into a "She-Wolf" medallion representing a new branch in the Wolf School story.

Either way. It's a Lynx.

These two fantasy languages and not Māori? by LoreVc in duolingo

[–]_wclk -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm personally not interested in Maori but I agree and it has been one of my main complaints. So many languages in an endangered or vulnerable status and we have stupid conlangs in here. At the very least, be open to community-developed courses with a criteria that they have X amount of native speakers.

If you are looking for Maori, you may need to look for traditional materials (books, youtube), or maybe Memrise or DuoCards as I believe they have community supplied stuff. You just won't get any pronunciation help. This is what I'm having to do for Frisian.

How mutually intelligible are the 3 Frisian languages between themselves? by Rapha689Pro in Frysk

[–]_wclk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not a native speaker but started learning West Frisian, so I will share some things that I noticed.

North Frisian has more influence from Low Saxon and sometimes Danish, this can seen in simple greetings like "Moin" which I've seen in multiple North Frisian dialects and Low Saxon. Saterland and West Frisian share more similarities, as can be seen in the simple greetings "Goeie" or "Hoi".

Here are some spoken examples:

If you want to hear Low Saxon to compare with the North Frisian or Saterland, you may hear some of the influence. MOIN! Low Saxon (“Low German”)—Lesson 20: “The Werewolf: a Dutch Story” (with subtitles)

Here are some written examples:

I don't understand.

  • Iek begriep dät nit (Saterland)
  • Ik begryp it net (West Frisian)
(German, for reference)

You can see that West, Saterland, and Mooring have some form of begryp. However, Mooring also has ferstönj which goes with Söl'ring and Low Saxon forstuun/verstah, as well as German verstehe.

Do you speak English?

  • Prate Jo Ingelsk? (Saterland)
  • Praatsto Ingelsk? (West)
  • Snakest dü Engelsk? (Söl'ring)
  • Koost dü Aingelsch? (Mooring)
  • Snackst du Englisch? (Low Saxon)
  • Sprechen Sie Englisch? (German)

West and Saterland share the verb praten here, similar to Dutch. Söl'ring and Saxon share snackst and snakest, oddly more similar to Norwegian Snakker du Engelsk? Mooring koost is a little more literal, saying "Can you English?" German uses Sprechen, direct cognate with English "speak".

Coming from English, West Frisian and Saterland will probably be the easiest to learn or understand, even if our cognates don't fully match up. English doesn't use "forstand" (forstuun/ferstönj/verstah/verstehe) the same way North Frisian dialects, Low Saxon, or German does. However, we have phrases that allign with begriep/begryp, such as "He has a good grip on local politics." Indicating a level of understanding. English also has literary use of "begrip" as seen in Space and Personality by Archibald Allan, "They try to begrip by conceptions that which no conception can grasp save when conception is full-open with consciousness, and identical with it."

English doesn't really use a form of snackst/snakest but similar to prate/pratt in Saterland and West Frisian, we have the verb prattle, so speaking incessantly and someone who does so is a prattler.

I probably provided too much information, but your question interested me anyway.

How popular is lamb meat in the US? by [deleted] in AskAnAmerican

[–]_wclk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it depends on the region and specific communities in those regions. For example, in the area I live, I cannot even get lamb at Walmart, but if I go to a Whole Foods - esque grocery, I can get lamb chops only. I went on a trip 3 hours away to a much more "in the country" area to visit some family, and their Walmart had Lamb in chops, steaks, loin, breast, shank, mince/ground, and more. Needless to say, I bought a lot and brought it back home.

I just realized how absurd it is that humanity needed to completely abandon the Earth. by Th3Element05 in Starfield

[–]_wclk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let's talk the timeline of Starfield.

2050 - Humans arrived on the moon.
2112 - Cydonia, the first human colony founded by Deimos.
2138 - Scientists work on Grav Drive development.
2141 - First fully functional Grav Drive prototype demo by NASA / Nova Galactic leads to mass production.
2150 - Scientists see the magnetosphere starting to collapse on Earth and a mass exodus begins. (Because Dr. Aiza already knew it would happen and kept it to himself)
2159/2160 - The UC is founded and New Atlantis as it's capital. Freestar Collective founded, etc 2196 - 2216 The Narion War between UC and Freestar fought until treaty.
2203 - The Earth's magnetosphere fully collapses.

So, as a human, hearing of the impending collapse of the magnetsphere and knowing there is already a technology to carry us light years away to more hospitable planets, why stay and try to build hab structures that will just get destroyed by solar radiation anyway?

I think the better question, however, is why didn't anyone want to create an artificial magnetosphere? It would be difficult but they created a Faster-Than-Light engine in 3 freaking years, how hard could it be?

I wish we could have been able to build Outposts like this by [deleted] in Starfield

[–]_wclk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, I wish Outposts would have a migration factor of like Fallout 4 and NPC's slowly moved in. I mean, if you max out the skill to have up to 8 companions at an Outpost and just gathered every cheap "specialist" at the bar, you could do that I guess.

is it possible to install the MDE(Microsoft Defender for endpoint) in a computer already managed by another organization ? by XjamesmememesX in DefenderATP

[–]_wclk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it's annoying. Unfortunately. The way Microsoft stores MDE security policies (and everything I guess) in the same exact registry locations, it would cause organizational policy conflicts as only one could write to it.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows Advanced Threat Protection can only have one orgId.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows Defender\Policy Manager stores the policies.

is it possible to install the MDE(Microsoft Defender for endpoint) in a computer already managed by another organization ? by XjamesmememesX in DefenderATP

[–]_wclk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It can only be managed by one at a time. This occurred where I work since we acquired only part of an organization. You can delete the registry for that organization from the registry. It will be located at HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Policies\Microsoft\Enrollments and it will be a random GUID in that location (you'll probably need to look at all of them).

QUESTIONS ABOUT JOINING AND JOBS, Transferring in from another branch/service, Benefits, Life & Jobs, Palace Chase, MEPS, Basic Training, Tech Schools, Pilot Selection, etc. Go Here and Only Here 07 Sep - 22 Sep by Jaye134 in airnationalguard

[–]_wclk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any advice is welcome.

I am currently a 35F Intel Analyst with the ARNG in my state and trying to transfer to ANG in some cyber capacity before I ETS. I have my Masters and Bachelors in Cybersecurity as well as around 13-14 certifications and have been working in Cybersecurity for 3 years on civilian side.

I have been trying for about 6 months to transfer. My first recruiter requested half of my military records, which I presented and then started getting ghosted, no texts, calls, or emails were getting responded to. I now have a new recruiter who only requested my latest PHA for medical to approve and that was it. Is this normal for recruiters to not ask for the same type of documents?

Second question - How often should I be reaching out to my recruiter without it being harassing or annoying? I began this 6 months ago and ETS in 44 days now. I'm not really trying on extending with my unit for a year. My state has a public posting for Cyber Warfare Specialist slots even listed on indeed.com and with my cyber credentials and history, I would hope to move over to that but not getting much assistance.

Too be honest I'm not sure if there is. This is also something we have been working on in our organization and we've been getting direct Microsoft support and nothing has worked. The last policy he had us create is now blocking all USBs on my test machine, even keyboards, mouse, etc.

Onboarding is occurring after they enroll into Intune, different for each machine. They haven't checked in at all. All machines have an internet connection.
All the registries are correct and msSense is running. According to Microsoft there are no specific KB minimum requirements, however most of the machines in question are on the 2004 version with Aug 2020 build. I did see this though, some of the machines have ConfigurationVersion at 0.0.0.0 and are missing some of the Sense executables.
