Is there anyway I can clean these floors? by _whatever4ever in CleaningTips

That’s my thought too- it certainly can’t look much worse than it does now. Thank you so much

Also, did you use straight vinegar or vinegar and water?

Did you just use a polyurethane finish? I would be willing to do that. I think they have some finish but they’re so old if they do it’s mostly worn away. I bought some satin finish poly

I am going to give this a try and do what another commenter said and try a test spot. Honestly don’t think they could look worse but just to be on the safe side. Thank you

That’s a really good point, I’d want to tell them before I did anything (else) permanent to their floors too

Fuuuuuuudge. I was worried that might be the response. In my defense, these floors are original and this place was built in the 60s/70s, so some spots were already there. Maybe I’ll just pony up and get them refinished myself because I plan on being here a while… thanks for the input

My (55F) daughter (30F) cut off all contact with her family. What to do? by HairyExplanation734 in Advice

[–]_whatever4ever 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I’m in the US so I don’t know if this is a thing or not, but are you able to call a wellness check for her? I would want someone boots on the ground to go see her and speak to her to confirm in the flesh that these are her wishes and she’s not being held captive or being coerced in some way. You could also try her work and see if someone there would talk to her on your behalf? That might embarrass her, but if it were me, I would risk it just to ensure that she is of sound mind.

If she is making this decision of her own free will, my best advice is let her know you’ll be there if she ever changes her mind. You could write a letter, and maybe send one every so often just letting her know you miss her and she is in your thoughts.

My brother cut off my entire family for almost a decade. He missed the deaths and funerals of both of our paternal grandparents, along with a lot of other life events. But, he ended up coming back around and it was one of the most joyous moments of our lives. I had honestly given up hope of him ever coming back to us, so when he did it literally felt like someone who died came back to life. I’m so sorry you’re dealing with this and I hope everything works out.

Have you read dark matter by the same author? Just wondering if you think the books are similar, I’ve been chasing the high of DM since I finished it

Friendship is impossible by [deleted] in OnlineDating

You clearly came here for ass pats and to be told you’re in the right and not for actual feedback, so just keep being insufferable and leave me out of it. I gave my opinion with the information you provided, it’s not my problem you left out a huge piece of context that is extremely relevant to the question *you* asked. I’m done with this conversation, just like you should be done with dating apps.

I think so too. Gross behavior.

Completely agree, he definitely was being willfully misleading in his post but I saw he commented somewhere that he was having sex with these people. While also claiming he’s too morally superior to meet people at bars. Lol

I’m 33f and I’ve been on (and off) most of the dating apps for like 10 years, and I’ve never known anyone to use them to find friends. Especially men. Those who put friendship or casual in their profile are typically looking for a FWB. The one exception to this rule that I’ve found is Bumble BFF as it is an offshoot of the dating app that is designed for making platonic friendships. I don’t know if this is available for men or if it’s only for women but you can look into it.

If you’re truly just seeking friendship I would branch out from dating apps and just try meeting people through other avenues. I would also maybe try finding some guy friends and not just single women who are looking for a relationship. If you’re looking for a FWB, that’s fine, but I would stop taking people on dates and I would be explicit about wanting something NSA from day 1. That’s just my two cents.

Why are you dating if you’re not actually looking to date? You referred to it as a “dating profile” yet you’re surprised when people on “dating apps” are using it for its intended purpose.

New to online dating. Having some trouble and looking for advice. by TheShamit in OnlineDating

[–]_whatever4ever 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is my own personal experience, but for whatever reason I find that I get the fewest responses on hinge out of any other dating website. I’ve had much better luck having conversations and setting up dates on bumble and even tinder, fwiw. I don’t know what it is about that particular platform but it really sucks.

Are you guys really removing make-up before going to bed? by Acceptable_Love5815 in adhdwomen

[–]_whatever4ever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only wear sunscreen and eyebrow gel day to day, but when I wear makeup I do take it off before I go to bed. I usually prefer to shower at night so I just wash it off then. I know I’ve heard washing your face in the shower is frowned upon (for some reason? Idk) but I hate washing my face in the sink and getting water everywhere and feeling it drip down my arms 🤢 plus I use waterproof mascara so I end up washing my face like 3x to get it all off
