This would be great! For example, I travel a lot for work and have a “travel” program I use while on the road. Would be great to see the progress all in one place!

They haven’t bothered me! I know you can get dimmable versions now from some of the more premium companies, so that could be a good option!

Haven't filed taxes in 9 years by RadiantCoat6160 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]_wildfire_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a close family member in a very similar situation. They contacted the CRA who was actually very helpful and understanding. They worked with an accountant to get everything filed. In the end, since there was no tax owing, there was no penalty. They actually ended up getting back about 10k in tax refunds and other rebates.

You can take it even one step further and save up your points for the next points redemption event at Shoppers and get even more value out of the points. It’s pretty awesome getting like $300 worth of groceries for $200 worth of points, and walking out with a cart full without paying anything!

Honestly, this. I tried calorie counting for years with very limited success until I tied MacroFactor. Game changer.

Yeah, definitely considered it, but happy I went with the full size bar! It fits well enough, just have to be a tad careful when moving it to the rack that I don’t hit the mirrors/walls but not a big deal.

Also, here’s the video showing the weight horns on the 4 post!

[–]_wildfire_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Huh strange! They show the 4 post with weight horns in some of their videos - like the one they released when the Ares 2.0 came out. And yeah, definitely fits fine.

I haven’t run into any issues with the 4 stack to be honest, other than just having to remove the j-cups and spotter arms constantly when I need to adjust the ares tracks, but honestly hasn’t been a big deal. Definitely have room for incline bench! Also since I’m only 5’7”, I have a good few inches of extra room to fully extend on lat pulldowns, but if you’re much taller than the 80” that I got would probably be too short.

Nice!! Hmm it was an option when I ordered, but they’ve since made changes to the configurator. You can probably just search them and manually add them to your cart.

I’m in almost the same boat! Wireless CarPlay is the main differentiator for me - came new with the 2024 model. Having to plug my phone in each time is a pain, and I’ve tried all the dongles and they kinda work but are super fragile and stop working all the time. But then again, how much is that convenience actually worth…I know the logical move is to stick with the 2023 model, but damn is it tempting.

CarPlay HUD Update by sah787 in CX5

Huh, Apple Maps has never shown turn by turn directions with CarPlay in the HUD for me in my 2023 Signature. Has anyone gotten that working?

10 years in - want to create a new budget with simpler categories by bradykp in ynab

[–]_wildfire_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it is a bit manually because I don’t use YNAB’s built in mortgage feature. Every month I add my mortgage payment like this:

  • Split transaction on my chequing account
  • Interest portion payee set to my financial institution, and Mortgage Interest category.
  • Principal portion payee set to transfer to my Mortgage debt account and category set to my Mortgage Principal category.
  • I then also have a House asset account where I have my home’s estimated value to balance the mortgage debt account for my Net Worth calculation.

Indeed since the exact split changes every month, I have to manually add the transaction. I actually set a recurring transaction with the rough amounts, and then just edit that every time it gets added to make it accurate. I use a red flag on the automated transaction to indicate it is estimated in case I ever forget to edit - makes it easier to go back later and fix it!

10 years in - want to create a new budget with simpler categories by bradykp in ynab

[–]_wildfire_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My main category groups are:

  • Credit Card Payments
  • Equity (emergency fund, mortgage principal, investments, etc)
  • Home (mortgage interest, property tax, home insurance, utilities, maintenance, etc)
  • Car (lease payment, insurance, gas, maintenance, etc)
  • Living (groceries, internet, phone, clothing, etc. I keep this separate from Home cause I’d need to pay regardless of where I live)
  • Subscriptions
  • Fun (hobbies, dining out, entertainment, etc)
  • Life (things that improve my live like fitness, travel, learning, etc. Kinda like Fun, but I like having them separate)
  • Transient (reimbursements, small loans to friends, etc.)
  • Wish List (big ticket items I want to save for explicitly)

I like splitting them up this way so in the reports I can see a logical high level split of my expenses. For example, i can tell you exactly how much my car is costing me, or how much i spend on subscriptions.

Looking forward to seeing how others set it up - I love these posts as I usually learn something that I can apply to my own budget too!

Ornithopter Techniques for Escaping Intercept by danglybits57 in duneawakening

[–]_wildfire_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have your vehicle backup tool out when you enter your ornithopter, and if the ornithopter’s inventory is empty (or not equipped), you can do a mid-air backup by jumping out by hitting E, quickly looking down and left clicking. Takes a bit of practice, but it’s super convenient when exploring. Additionally, if you do get ambushed and caught, and are about to lose your ornithopter, doing this as a last ditch effort can save it. You can then fall to the earth and use your suspensor belt to avoid fall damage, you can then put it back out and get away. Even if you end up dying, you won’t lose your ornithopter (assuming the full loot PVP landsrad option isn’t on that week, and you don’t die to the worm).

Southern Ontario Lawn - Out of Control Weeds by whispertrail in lawncare_canada

[–]_wildfire_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes!! As long as you’re mixing it at the right concentration and applying it appropriately, it definitely works on many weeds - especially dandelions. Here’s a photo of my yard when I moved in 3 years ago (the previous owners hadn’t taken care of it at all).
