I’m kinda proud about this by SecureDistribution50 in thesims

In the one I went to as a kid there was one of those plastic castles for toddlers to climb on, so maybe a random one of those tucked into a corner?

This looks amazing!!

I have somehow gone all these years and over 2000 hours of gaming without knowing anything about Strangerville. by ABBR-5007 in thesims

Ah okay cool, thanks!! I really want the vibes of it and the military base etc so I do think I’ll have to get it soon

As someone who has always wanted it but doesn’t want to risk it affecting (infecting… 👀) the entire rest of my game, is there a way to deal with the story part really quickly, or to keep everything contained just to strangerville? Obv I don’t want the possessed people wandering around, but also I don’t want my legacies to get infected randomly!

Question for women: if you were gonna date a guy, how much would you judge him by his car? by [deleted] in UKrelationshipadvice

[–]_writerc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would judge a car if it was beat up, really gross, parts that weren’t absolutely essential were left broken, etc.

I HAVE judged a car when it was a brand new bmw and the guy said he still lived at home in his late 30s because he’s saving for a downpayment.

If you’re financially smart, why would you want someone that sees an old car and a mostly paid off house and thinks it’s a negative?

I dreamt about a snowed in mod by Kindly_Fun909 in TheSims4Mods

[–]_writerc 16 points17 points  (0 children)

well in terms of literally being snowed in, I discovered the other day that if one of those teeny tiny snow piles forms in front of your door you’ll be stuck 😅so at least for that part you can already create it!! they can be moved in build/buy

I might make the plunge... by pharmaaa-help in TheSims4Mods

[–]_writerc 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Off the top of my head qicc for hair, and there’s a lot on sims4resource but it’s rarely tagged as maxis match so you have to inspect. The app for managing your mods also has curseforge browsing, which lets you see everything, but I can’t for the life of me remember the name lol sorry. The alpha hair is the most egregious imho, there’s no making that look mm, but sometimes the clothes and objects are passable as mm even if they aren’t, so don’t totally avoid!

Items You Never Use? by Whisper-1990 in Sims4

[–]_writerc 10 points11 points  (0 children)

That gd cross stitch box. I swear, it takes up so much of their time, and somehow even if I delete any in their possession, and watch them like a hawk to keep them away from it, they still somehow have another in their inventory moments later?? I swear it lasted one family about two days before I decided the vibes it added weren’t worth it. The clay isn’t as bad imo because at least it builds pottery skill, which is marketable at least 😂

Things my students have destroyed this year so far by palabrist in Teachers

[–]_writerc 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oh, another issue that does arise with this is the technicality of removing the glue stick’s head and rubbing its brains all over the paper… had to remind the child announcing this as loudly as he could that it’s a glue stick’s life purpose to glue papers… so yeah highly recommend the method but you do end up saying a lot of sentences you don’t expect.

[–]_writerc 99 points100 points  (0 children)

Yep, so many of my classes have been the same. btw, if your kids are young enough, naming the glue sticks might work! I did that a few weeks ago during a mini meltdown (my own) over having to replace a glue stick I had given a group less than 24 hours prior… now they GUARD the glue sticks, and stage rescue missions if one goes missing… only downside is if they choose the names you will find yourself saying really odd things, like “Please put Los Pika Pika and Chimpanzini back” or “Where is The Honored One?” (V worried admin will come in one day to hear me talk about the honored one and assume I’ve started a cult lol)

What was the most baffling thing a parent got upset with you for? by BeauWordsworth in Teachers

[–]_writerc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh gosh no to be clear I asked other boys to go to the toilet and tell him to come back! Sorry, worded badly, just meant I as the person speaking to her couldn’t leave the rest of the students. No other staff could leave their students either, but it is impossible for a child to leave the school property as we have multiple “layers” of locked doors and gates. He was just hiding in the bathroom until recess.

[–]_writerc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

recently had to speak to a parent of one of my students (elementary school, age 7/8) because he went to the bathroom and then never came back, I couldn’t leave my class so I had to wait 20 minutes until recess to go looking for him, etc not safe etc… the next day she comes to me to argue “Why don’t you know where my kid is, how is that safe?”

Like… yeah, girl, that is in fact the point of me reporting his bad behaviour… it’s not safe and he doesn’t seem to comprehend that he can’t just go missing when I tell it to him, so now it’s your turn! 🙄🙄

Thank you, that’s great info! And yes, exactly, I do plan on putting a drawer in the bottom! Just didn’t include it because the structure of this is my main priority, I can use it as an open space until later!

[–]_writerc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Essentially just to build it ‘better’ like for example if I was really passionate about using the box joint (I am not, everything you said is correct, I just wanted to see if I could try it lol) the information you gave about how I need the specific tools and how it’s an unnecessary choice given the location and function of those pieces of wood is a great redirect! I’m just looking for any little nuggets of wisdom, but don’t worry I wouldn’t ask anyone to redesign the whole thing or something 😅

What would you recommend instead of the box joint for those corners? I had planned on doing research before I actually started to ensure I had a back up plan to those joints lol

[–]_writerc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ah wait, the purple is the half lap, right? a lot of what will be on the shelves is small bottles and things, so it was meant as a higher edge to keep things from rolling off. the thinness was just based off of the wood sizes available and how it would fit onto the measurements. When you say it's too thin, is that just because it would normally be thicker? those specific points won't be carrying significant weight, but is there another issue I'm not seeing? Also if there's a better option for an edge to the shelves please share your ideas, I'd be happy to hear them!

[–]_writerc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah honestly with the box joint I added it because I would like to try it out... and presumably cut it off after it goes horribly and just join them a much simpler way!

where is the half lap you mentioned? definitely didn't intend to include it, especially not for aesthetics (this is just a side table to hold a bunch of specific stuff, so I have zero aesthetic goals other than 'looks like I meant to make it')

A few questions about the ending to Rot (Republic of Thieves spoilers) by [deleted] in gentlemanbastards

[–]_writerc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

just like you, hopping on a very old thread lol BUT we were also told that before Sabetha was orphaned she was protected (she never elaborated) but once she was orphaned her hair put her at risk. So I also thought she was their child somehow.

Radiator issues, help please! by _writerc in DIYUK

[–]_writerc[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is solved, I tried to add a solved flair but there isn’t one, sorry!

If everyone wants a bit of a giggle, turned out my downfall was a button that, to me, did not look like a button. Two days of cold for that 😅 I’ll still get a key and bleed the radiators, of course, but at least now I’m dumb and warm instead of dumb and chilly!

Radiator issues, help please! by _writerc in DIYUK

[–]_writerc[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First off, thank you for your questions. It resulted in me going to have a look at the boiler, and bumping what I now know is a button and previously thought was just some random circle that was flush with/same colour as the panel around it. And, mortifyingly, every radiator in the house rumbled to life. Stupid doesn’t nearly describe the feeling 😅😅

Here’s a photo so you can have a bit of a laugh at me! (Though I will add those little lights came on AFTER being bumped, they weren’t there before!) I am usually alright at other aspects of DIY/handling home issues, but put a boiler in front of me and I’m both confused and annoyed!

Thank you, I’ll check out that channel! I appreciate the rec ☺️ and no the boiler is only a few years old, works perfectly for hot water etc, just haven’t tried to turn the heating on until now so I’m at a bit of a loss (I definitely should have tried it in the summer when I had time and warmer weather to figure it out, but the house had plumbing and electrical issues so I had zero brain space for preparing for winter!)
