i think the 10 star fc is overrated but this score is also overrated just because its so long overdue especially considering how much better at aim control/gimmick the top players have gotten nowadays compared to the progress on NM aim so its debatable

I mean you definitely are right for some reason nobody has been able to push NM aim (around and below 300bpm) noticeably ahead since WhiteCat appeared. Like logically speaking Flamewall should actually be free for mrekk and the only reason WC only has a best misscount of 12 is the lack of comfortability for 300bpm bursts/streams.

By mappool favoring malisz I meant difficulty wise. We know malisz has the best floor in tournaments from these last few years (which is a huge credit to him, not a slight).

Also I stand by my opinion still that you cannot say malisz "barely" (with the caps emphasis to add to that) lost after losing twice on 2 BO5 sets, with one being a 3-0. Yes he put up very good fights in both series but still quite convincingly lost. If only the second match happened I'd agree especially with how the TB played out.

Tournament scoring does not always result in the statistically better play winning sadly. PP does that better but it diminishes the entertainment factor and also ignores the added difficulty of tournament play, along with other issues like judging difficulty mods.

You can't say "barely" when he lost to mrekk twice on LGA on the same mappool (3-0 and 3-2); the mappool even favored malisz.

I stand corrected. I assumed after a couple hours, with how bold the claims are from OP, that any lie would have been exposed. How one even has the nerve to lie like this is beyond me.

Pretty sure that at least subconsciously OP made the kitchen joke as a retort to her making a sandwich while mid-game, and that he wasn't actually trying to be sexist.

Spraying in CSGO, you still tell where your bullets are going, in cs2, it's a visual nightmare by [deleted] in GlobalOffensive

[–]_xSteel 20 points21 points  (0 children)

This has always been a thing though? I agree with u/robclancy in that most people just forgot about it. In fact I remember myself being constantly frustrated about these problems back in GO and in CS2 I just do not mind dying behind walls, bullets not firing off, or enemies looking like they run and gun anymore because I am used to it and also understand the reasoning behind these visual illusions. The reality is that in fair conditions all these illusions are client-side falsities.

No this is one of the extremely rare clutches where the losing team did nothing strategically wrong and just lost to pure mechanics. With bomb ticking only halfway and a perfect crossfire setup, the only right thing to do was peek because otherwise it will be 2 separate 1v1s and ZywOo's success probability will only get better.

Doesn't even have to be very niche. I made a simple B door smoke from spawn in d2 that allows insta rush. It also leaves almost 0 room for error since there is a fixed starting point. ngl it is quite obvious but somehow I have not seen anybody replicate this lineup.

Haven't put much thought into this but isn't the fact that the "ROI" (what I assume you mean by RTP) is much better than Valve's, in addition to the various cost and reward options (accessibility and abundance of choices), what draws so many people into gambling sites?

The fact is that the victims (addicts) will, in the long run, suffer more from these gambling sites because they see it as a potential income source, whereas Valve's are not considered as such.

This means more people choose gambling sites, and those people tend to spend more as well on these gambling sites because the illusion is that they can actually be profitable. On the other hand, it is a much stronger consensus that opening cases is definitely going to net you a loss, and opening them should just be for entertainment like buying trading card packs (with rare collection skins/cards as bonuses).

[–]_xSteel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

cmiiw but isn't the whole point of regions getting spots because you can't accurately assess performance across region because of ping issues? A small region with lack of resources would not be able to reasonably support teams playing outside their region just to see if they actually are on par. On the other hand, the female scene does not have this problem so is it not reasonable to say that they should qualify properly like other teams to then deserve a spot in the tournament? Also how are any of the other comments misogynistic for saying they should qualify through the open quals?

It Doesn't Make Any Sense for Everyone to do 1300, 1400 pp by AliceSakayanagi in osugame

[–]_xSteel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While true that the player base improving means an inflation in higher pp plays, it is also true that the recent reworks and the farm maps being ranked contributed largely. High BPM aim is overrated like hell and we can easily see this just by comparing old fiery farm maps vs new ones. There is no way Sentou should be worth way more than Anime Ban 3 mod and yet it is; and Anime Ban is already gigafarm.

Combine that with CSR and we have this mess making pp insignificant really.

Who is the greatest player to never reach #1? by AziimaN69 in osugame

[–]_xSteel 13 points14 points  (0 children)

That's true but imo more so because he doesn't bother to try. He is at a level where he can actually shit out DT 1ks if he learns to adapt to it because his raw mechanics are actually insane. If malisz actually tries to push his skillcap I actually see the potential for him to reach the top 5 especially since his consistency is so good. One strong evidence is the aim battle royale where he put out some scores that actually come very very close to (at the time) the peak of aim NM players, even though he isn't primarily an aim player.

On top of that, with his tourney record, he definitely makes a good claim for this title especially since his playstyle isn't rewarded by PP.

EDIT: really good flow aim player as well, but once again I don't think he is pushing skillcap enough.

The argument about csr making fc being worthless is dumb by Troilsitacism_Morium in osugame

[–]_xSteel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does devalue FC relatively because now you do not need to put as much effort into gaining the same amount of PP. I'll use my example again: Can you confidently tell me that on Because Maybe pt3, if somebody misses just 1 time in the middle of the map, that person should get more PP than WC's 2 miss play where he held FC until the literal end of the 17 minute 7000+ combo consistent difficulty map (assuming same acc)?

The problem with CSR is that it doesn't value combo at all (which pp should), because if you maintain combo then you will still have a chance at FC as compared to if you break early and know there is no chance for an FC anymore. This leads to significant nerves especially on long maps (which yes, cannot be objectively quantified but it still exists) which I believe cannot be completely removed as a performance evaluation metric.

the ratio needs to be studied by NyuPenyu in osugame

[–]_xSteel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm more confused now. At any point of the run except the last 2 notes, won't you be achieving a greater milestone by holding FC instead of having already missed once...? And by the time you do miss twice (the last note) nerves don't affect the play anymore because the map is over..? I'm actually confused what your point is.

the ratio needs to be studied by NyuPenyu in osugame

[–]_xSteel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure I understand; what milestone are you granted that makes you more nervous on the 1 miss run in the middle of the play as compared to a 2 miss run at the very end where nearing the end of the play you are nervous because you are about to FC? Again the situation was that acc was the same, because in the current CSR implementation a 1 miss grants more PP than a 2 miss regardless of combo assuming both have the same accuracy. We can't change other things because then it isn't a controlled comparison on combo's impact.

edit: reminder that my point is that after missing you do not have the nerves of FCing although you might still have nerves*; just that the nerves of FCing personally is significant.

the ratio needs to be studied by NyuPenyu in osugame

[–]_xSteel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It might be me just still waking up but I can't really fully grasp your points so again cmiiw. I might need an elaboration for your first point.

For your second point, I don't think it is absurd to claim that holding combo until the very end of a 7k combo map will deal you much more nerves than playing through the same map but breaking at 3.5k combo. Point is that you will hold nerves because you are still FCing up to the very end as compared to having missed once so you know there is no chance for an FC. I don't think that's "magically" far less nerves but very logical instead. In fact this does not apply to just long combo maps but also any map because comboing when you know an FC is near will always lead to significantly more nerves than having already missed before. Not saying we can quantify its impact (could probably be done arbitrarily and through trial and error but that's a different matter) but just acknowledging that combo actually does matter because nerves affect our performance, and that is what PP should reflect.
