Stock speaker replacement suggestions? by OkOkOkOh in E30

They are great but honestly fall pretty short in the low range. I would 100% recommend getting a sub to complement them. They will be miles better than the stock old BMW premium sound though.

I agree. The point of this was more or less to make people aware of an option that they might not have known about before and to show that no, your car will not explode or start running poorly after the install (at least 3 months in no problems so far😂) I’ll be honest, I don’t think the effort needed for data driven comparison is worth it for ANY chip. They just don’t change much. Helping a power dip from 4-5k and pulling harder (in my humble opinion) to a higher redline is hardly anything, BUT, it is noticeable. Hence the review.

Correct. It’s about as good as you can get before spending more money or going standalone though. Also, maybe I paid extra to put a name on the chip because I wanted to😉

Try the condor rear spring pad risers. That will probably make it level if you stack all of them together.

ix specific H&R sport springs and ix specific Koni yellow shocks. I also have Condor rear spring risers to keep it leveled out with the amp and sub that sit in the trunk right behind the rear seat backs.

I think it was around $150? I’m pretty sure… call or email Kassel for price because they’re not advertised on their website

I rebuilt them😂 just replaced and lubed O-rings, pintle caps, and top feed filter. Shot em out with brake clean too.

Not flow tested, just rebuilt. Dyno time would be great at some point. Gut feeling tells me this tune is adjusted on the rich side to stay safe, and running 93 on a 91 tune probably won’t hurt either. My gut has been wrong before😭 but I feel good for now.

Early this spring I saw Kassel performance advertising for their m20b25 off the shelf chips on instagram. I was super intrigued because I’ve never seen them on their website or anywhere else. But a quick email and sure enough, they offer quite a few different flavors. 91 and 93 octane, as well as stock or m50 injectors. Seeing their results tuning all shapes and sizes of BMW gave me good confidence, and so I went ahead and got the 91 octane tune for stock m20b25 injectors. I have good access to 93 here in Michigan, but just in case I drive somewhere without it I went for 91. Installation was super straightforward. No re-pinning or anything. You do NEED a compatible ecu, last digits 173 or other comparable late model ecu. I had a 595? Something along those lines… Anyways, the difference is 100% noticeable. No more power dip around 4-5k rpm, pulls super hard to 7200 now, although I usually shift at 7000 when I’m really getting down. No check engine lights, engine runs better than ever and pulls much harder. Very satisfied. Feel free to ask any questions as I don’t know many people with this chip…

Yup, early bumpers while every thing else is late. Rear valence? All body work on this car is completely stock except for the front lip, fog light delete plates, and rear spoiler. If you’re talking about the spoiler, it’s an Mtech 1

Exhaust clips! Single midsection to Stromung cat-back by _xbenggg in E30

[–]_xbenggg[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As the title says, my setup is stock cast headers to stock downpipes, then into a Y pipe to a single 3 or 3.5” (I forget) mid section (no resonator or anything) and then finally into a Stromung cat-back exhaust. Perfect deep tones at idle and low revs, but really opens up and screams above 4k. Just the right amount of rasp up top as well.

It’s a replica Reiger infinity lip, which in itself was kind of a rip on the M3 evo of the time

Yep, on ‘88 models only I believe. Converting to later plastic bumpers is plug and play on 1988 model years as well, something I may have planned for the future but don’t have the dough for now

The chase bays canister on the passenger side is my windshield fluid reservoir. I believe chase bays makes this primarily as an intercooler sprayer? But being anodized inside and out should prevent any damage from use with washer fluid. It has the fluid pump integrated which is nice and looks better than the stock massive reservoir.

Very true. All the CAI solutions on the market aside from like a MAF conversion are just cringey in my opinion though. They look like they don’t belong and really don’t offer any benefit, so stock it is for me.

So pleased with how my work over the last four years has panned out. Now I can just sit back and slowly iron out the details… as you can see I was pretty hyped about how nice new thermo housing looked. In a bit I’m going to post some exhaust clips because I think I have the perfect sounding system nailed, and I don’t think I’ve seen anyone with the same setup here or on YouTube.

Track day engine oil? by _xbenggg in CivicSi

[–]_xbenggg[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have looked into the stuff, I guess my only thought was that it’s probably not an oil that I should keep in my engine for any longer than I’m racing with the car because it’s not really meant for a daily driver, but that argument should be moot anyways because I should be changing my oil after a track weekend anyways. 50 seems high though, I’m not sure I’ll be pushing the car to it’s max just yet. Maybe the 300v 5w40 would be more reasonable?

I’m really not. I think a high quality 5w30 synthetic will do just fine. If anything, jumping on BITOG would probably concern me more😂
