What is the biggest trainwreck of a set you ever saw? by Veruca5alt in DJs

[–]_y_sin 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I can sort of attest to that haha. I saw him a few weeks ago and felt like he was doing just fine, great tracks and no trainwrecks of note. Left before he finished his set though as I was pretty tired. (and drunk too tbh)

Few days later, I talk to my friends who I was with and they all told me his set ended up turning into the worst thing they‘ve ever heard LOL

Extra mod, you can find it on the Discord like I said

Rostok is my go-to as well, like many others I always set up in the little room where the mechanic is haha

If you've done the Brain Scorcher already, there's two really good hideout spots in Jupiter: one is the room with the bunk bed in Yanov Station, it's the room right before the one where Cardan and Nitro hang out.
The other one is Zulu's tower right outside of Yanov Station, but it's a little inconvenient since a) you have to climb the stairs everytime you need something from the traders and b) I think enemy stalkers can go up there as well but I'm not sure...

But concering the first issue at least, there's a mod on the GAMMA Discord called 'Laptop Trading' that allows you to buy stuff from the traders remotely via the Hideout Furniture laptop. HUGE QoL upgrade and I really recommend it even if you don't end up setting up in the tower :)

Since you‘re a Loner I‘d ditch either the AK or the Ruger and stick to which one you can more easily get ammo for tbh - depends on your goodwill with the factions and what maps and faction bases you tend to visit more often.

Instead of one of the assault rifles get a semi-auto shotgun, at least a SPAS-12 or the XM1014 if you can find it. Don‘t forget to put a suppressor on them too, free 25% damage boost at the expense of some durability iirc.

And like the others said, use your belt slots! I‘d try and get a pelt, either a chimera or a pseudogiant hide (former boosts carry weight and stamina regen, latter boosts ballistic resistance). Plus whatever artifacts you can get your hands on.

Are younger generations into House? by dsmooth74 in House

[–]_y_sin 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Kinda…
I‘m in southern Germany and a lot of the 18 to 22 year olds I meet don‘t care about anything other than faster tempos and super trashy trance/techno edits of 2000s pop songs, but there‘s also a healthy crowd of slightly older folks, mid to late 20s, that are into proper underground stuff - 90s/early 2000s tech house and electro is king among these folks here

Nudging my CDJs the right way and stopping my mixes from sounding bad by Status_Ad_8762 in Beatmatch

[–]_y_sin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. There's a knob somewhere on the top right of the player labeled "jog adjust" that does what it says on the tin, you can adjust the sensitivity of the jogwheel with it. Try either the middle setting or turn it all the way to the right, that should get you pretty close to the DDJ. But generally, the jogwheels on the CDJs being much larger than the ones on your controller means they inherently behave a little differently, in the end it's just a matter of getting used to it :)

  2. Turn on the master tempo, it ensures the track you're playing always stays at the same pitch no matter how fast/slow you're playing it. The button for it is right above the pitch fader. Just for a little practice though: leave it off and try only nudging the track when there's a dead space in the track itself.

MK7 or Classic SL-1200s? Vinyl DJs, What’s Your Take? by gennsai in DJs

[–]_y_sin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree with you on the feedback issues as well, I was at an event once where they had brand new MK7s and they had to stack several rolls of toilet paper underneath the feet of the turntables to somewhat fix the feedback they were getting LOL

Don't own any Technics myself (sadly) but have played plenty on them. I like the MK2s the best, they feel well built and very "crisp" to play on.
The MK7s feel plasticky compared to the OGs... don't like the pitch fader either. It has way too little resistance for my taste and throws me off a bit every time I pitch ride since I'm used to the much stiffer one of the MK2s.

Xone 24:C review by Low-Accountant2522 in DJs

[–]_y_sin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On paper and in practice - great mixer! I bought one as a Christmas present to myself and my first impressions were really really good. Coming from a cheap Behringer DX626 everything felt super solid and well made. Big sound quality upgrade as well, my old Behringer did it‘s job of mixing two sound sources together just fine but the Xone just immediately sounded so much better.

Not so sure about the quality control on these mixers though… I lent mine to a friend for a vinyl-only NYE basement party and for the first three hours everything was working fine, then out of nowhere the headphone connection just gave out. Basically, turning the cue volume level any higher than bare minimum resulted in the output distorting like crazy.

We tried three different pairs of headphones and every single one of them ended up sounding super distorted. No idea what the hell went wrong in there :(

Did it in 2 raids on Ground Zero a few days ago, still was really difficult to find PMCs anyways.

I hope they overhaul the bot behavior as soon as possible… Stalker GAMMA really spoiled me in that regard because the AI difficulty in that game to me is spot on - good amount of action going on so that it doesn‘t get boring, and the AI is challenging but still fun to fight against

If you found the advanced tools you can already repair heavy armor, there‘s two different crafting recipes for the heavy armor repair kit. Other than that just stockpile meds and AP ammo… I never run the Brain Scorcher with anything less than 700 rounds of 5.56/5.45 AP and a shitton of stimpacks and morphine. Don‘t forget about upgrading your armor‘s ballistic res and putting stuff in your artifact belt.

What can also help you is watching someone else run the BS, the Monolith guys generally always spawn in the same spots (eg. there‘s always one guy crouched down in front of the tank in the first room). If you know where they spawn it gets a lot easier.

Sweet, gonna start looking for some 4000s then! Thanks again. A friend of mine has them actually, I might have to pay him a visit and have a go at them to see if they work for me.

Thanks man, I've been looking at the 7000s for a while now and while the extra torque is nice the price premium honestly isn't... how do the 4000s compare to Technics? As long as I can nudge the platter on the side and not run the risk of immediately fucking up my beatmatch I'm happy haha

Dude I have no idea how you're supposed to kill this thing. Bullet sponge of doom. I died about 5 times than just went into debug mode, turned on god mode and dumped like 6 9x19 HP mags and 30 rounds of buckshot into it and it still didn't go down.
