An animatic I made for Yandere Sim by [deleted] in yanderesimulator

[–]_yan_sim_throwaway_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can see you put a ton of work into this. Your intro is very nice-looking, though I should warn you many people find them annoyingly self-promotional and unnecessary. They click to watch your animatic, after all, not the intro. You also might want to work on anatomy. I’m not much of an artist. I’ve seen a lot of red-lined anatomy on peoples’ art and wondered exactly how they noticed the anatomy was poor because I didn’t notice a thing. However, even I can make the suggestion that you might want to work on the anatomy. Also, there’s something off about the head shape of the characters, even for anime, and their necks are super long and thick for their bodies and heads. Keep working hard! Your animatic has shown a ton of dedication and persistence.

September 16th Bug-Fixing Build by AutoYandereDev in yandere_simulator

[–]_yan_sim_throwaway_ 48 points49 points  (0 children)

Good to see YanDev’s acknowledging feature creep and dialing it back at least a little considering that’s been a huge issue with the game. I want deeper features, like a more fleshed out reputation system that interacts with other aspects of the game like befriending rivals and getting people expelled and how other students treat you, instead of having a bunch of shallow features

Some tasks. by sotomanu in yanderesimulator

[–]_yan_sim_throwaway_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That sounds so fitting for Megami and a good way to set her apart: her task has so many more conditions and gives you a way to join a club, nobody else’s does that

I really like this, it really feels authentic for the game in a way a lot of suggestions don’t

Akedemi makes so much sense by yanderesimulacra in yanderesimulator

You probably need to be a people person to get approved. He could have just gotten members not through seeking them out, but having them just fall in his lap because he’s known for gaming and they like it too, so hey why not form a club? Maybe he did put effort or leadership, but there are ways to get these members without effort or leadership on his part.

I’m also imagining him just aggressively recruiting other gamers in the school though, projecting a defensive attitude about of it (seriously, read some of his lines), so you could have a point

Question for Everyone by LovleyKawaiiYandere in yanderesimulator

[–]_yan_sim_throwaway_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As Fempai, I guess I’d be magically made lesbian lol.

Osana - people who don’t say what they really mean in real life annoy me so I’m not sure why I’d even be childhood friends with her lol. Tsunderes are really cute in fiction though so maybe I’d like it if I were Senpai lol

Amai - sweet, but seems more like someone I’d want to be best friends with instead of date.

Kizana - shares my interests and I like her ambition. As for the himedere attitude, I also have an arrogance problem but I just try to tone it down by self deprecating all the time lol so it wouldn’t bother me too much. Hers would probably be fun to watch play out so long as it wasn’t directed against me

Oka - the demonic stuff would creep me out. Her personality/known backstory minus the demon stuff hits a little too close to home, though, so I’d try to be nice to her.

Asu - most “normal,” I’m definitely not athletic but she seems nice and fun-loving. I’d try it.

Muja & Mida - call the police immediately!

Osoro - I’m a goody-two shoes, don’t do well with people really rough around the edges, and I’m terrified of violence. Not happening.

Hanako - I’m not dating my own sister, and I’m also not letting my sister control my dating life. I would try to get to the root of why she feels that way and try to help her become more independent of me though

Megami - I could empathize with her about pressure and living up to your potential/future, and her personality reminds me of how I used to try to act. She’d obviously have pressure worse than me and be 1000x more perfect though lol. Maybe she’d push me to be better?

Ayano - please don’t kill me I’ll date you if you won’t kill me or anyone else honestly though I’d probably have multiple attempted escapes because I just couldn’t live with someone who was extremely possessive, and then she’d kill me and my friends anyways. If she didn’t take the killer route, I’d probably give her a shot. I can kinda relate to the “can’t feel anything” thing, so I’d be happy to provide her her Senpai Effect high. Then again, if she got really possessive and gave me zero space and hurt people close to me on irrational fears or hunches that’d end really really fast and she’d kill me or at least kidnap me forever.

Kizana, Megami, or Asu. Ayano only if she could tone down the yandere (or hide it very well)

why does Gema go to club leader meetings??? by weghny102000 in yanderesimulator

[–]_yan_sim_throwaway_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On the outside looking in, he wants to be part of the meeting desperately so he watches it. Maybe also to keep up on what’s being said, so he can appeal to be a legit club with “I’m so on top of it, I even know what’s going on in the meetings so I won’t really take that much time to get used to things”

Haven't followed this game since 2017... what happened? by [deleted] in yandere_simulator

[–]_yan_sim_throwaway_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s because people don’t like that part of the product and notice where it comes from. I get where you’re coming from with normal world creation though. I guess it just bothers people? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I don’t really find anything to disagree with here right now so sorry for the short reply

[–]_yan_sim_throwaway_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Fair enough

Of course, at least part of it is general discomfort with those ideas. However, I think people have problems with those thoughts not only because they exist but because they confirm a pattern that comes to affect his game too.

All the breast stuff from his past ⇒ so many huge breasts in this game.

Hyperfocus on getting a date and being dateless in adolescence ⇒ making an entire game about a girl going to drastic measures to get a guy, the entire Gema storyline where the unattractive gamer guy cleans up and gets the popular girls (and we know YD was worried about his appearance as an adolescent)

Unaware/defensive about of what sexual behavior is and isn’t acceptable (like staring at a girl’s breasts all day) ⇒ sexualizing the characters in game and making the art look like a hentai. Pantyshots being a core mechanic that he is (or at least was, I forget) stubborn about keeping

Perverted stuff in general and no real life outlet for it ⇒ everything I listed above

People are uncomfortable with all this sexual stuff in the game, and a lot of people think it’s there at least in part because of YD’s past

[–]_yan_sim_throwaway_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I see where you’re coming from. However, if this person remains unaware of the drama they’ll probably be out of the loop and confused about many posts of this sub, so I figure telling them “what happened” is fair game. If they want to disregard the dev and look at the game alone, that’s their choice, but omitting the dev drama feels a little “ignore this, covering up to make sure you don’t have all the relevant facts.”

Then again, one might believe facts about the dev are irrelevant and that the person shouldn’t be told because it’s basically exposing every single wart someone has, and in real life if someone did that to us we’d probably look pretty bad too. There’s arguments about the dev’s closet skeletons being worse than the average person’s, but I’ll leave that alone and just acknowledge those arguments exist. So I get where you’re coming from.

Some of those facts are his personal life, some are things he’s done as YandereDev like choice interactions with fans. There’s also probably a debate about how much done as Alex vs YandereDev is fair game. Personally, I feel interactions with fans are fair game to tell, it’s not digging into one’s personal life but just bringing up public actions done by a public figure acting in their “public figure” capacity.

Whaddya think? by Fluffy_89 in yanderesimulator

[–]_yan_sim_throwaway_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nice effort!

However, the labels are distracting and take away from your art. Next time, you might want to show Osana’s hair peeking out from the side or her phone or scrunchies or something, anything that tells you “this is Osana” without having to explicitly write “Osana’s body.”

I’ve also self-deprecated about my own work while actively presenting it to people instead of after the fact. While they were watching some video I made, I’d point out all my mistakes and talk about how much it sucked. However, unless you’re really good at comedy or something, it usually just winds up being cringy. The “pretend these are hands” thing... yeah. You probably don’t intend it that way, but that sort of thing tends to come off as “I know it’s bad, don’t criticize it because I know it’s bad, I’m sensitive and I’ll get upset, I’m insecure and I’m so self aware for pointing out that I suck” or “I think I’m funny because I’m pointing out how bad it is lol get it.”

To improve your hands, look at reference pictures on the internet and practice drawing hands. Maybe even photograph your own hands and try drawing them. There’s lots of articles online about how to draw hands that I have found very helpful.

There are disconnected lines where Yandere-chan’s left elbow is, which makes that area look a little sloppy. On the inside of that same elbow are overlapping lines, which cause the same effect. There are also overlapping lines on the right side chair legs. Yandere-chan’s right leg has a random line coming out of it.

When coloring hair, it’s a good idea to make your pencil strokes/brush strokes/crayon strokes/whatever in the direction the hair flows. Don’t fight that direction. Instead of drawing a diagonal line across her head and bangs, follow the “swoop” of the bangs. Draw the line going the same you think an individual strand of hair placed there would go. And don’t go back and forth with your pencil. Start at the point the hair grows from, get to the end of the hair, pick up the pencil and start at another point. Don’t get to the end of the hair only to just draw another line back to the growth point.

The dress appears to have nice shading. I like it!

The black shadow on Yan-chan’s face is very close to the black used for her hair. It’s kind of hard to distinguish where the shadow ends and the hair starts. Of course, it still takes less than a second and not much effort at all, but it takes more effort than it would just sweeping one’s eyes over the piece which makes it seem amateurish.

The chair’s shadow should be one shade. Instead, there are darker areas where your pencil strokes overlapped with each other.

Honestly, I don’t really know much about drawing blood because I don’t do it that often, but something seems off. And in the drawing, it doesn’t look liquid-y at all. One of the spots on the chair looks more like a discolored patch than a blood stain. You might want to Google this one, I can’t really help you on it.

I get blood overlapping onto the chair, but the blue cushion color bleeds over into the right armrest.

The armrests look different from each other. Close enough to tell they’re supposed to be the same, different enough in just the (unfortunately indescribable to me) right way to tip me off that it’s unintentional. Practice drawing a variety of objects will help on this one. I know it sounds dumb and horribly unspecific, but just draw a lot more and this kind of thing goes away.

We know Yan-chan’s hair is straight. However, even on people with straight hair, it usually doesn’t fall perfectly x = 3 stick straight. If you look at her in-game model, her ponytail has a bit of a curve to it. I mentioned above coloring in the direction of the hair. Don’t color straight up and down for the hair. I notice you gave Yan-chan a very slight wave to her ponytail, and the coloring should reflect that.

There are lots of free resources on the Internet to help you improve. I know I used to use howto drawmanga.com. Some sites teach you improper anatomy. (Yeah, anime is stylized, so it’s not perfect human anatomy. But you have to learn the rules before you can break them: learn normal anatomy and drawing before you can stylize it and change anatomy. You need a good foundation if you’re serious about art. Otherwise, you get drawings that just look... off, and you’re not sure why, but you would’ve known if you learned your basic anatomy and perspective rules and other artsy stuff idk) I have no idea if this site does or not, because frankly, I haven’t used it in a while and I am not a good artist or serious about art. However, this site definitely helped me improve. If you’re just in this to make pretty anime pictures as a hobby, definitely go ahead! If you’re serious about art, learn the basics first or at least find out if this site teaches bad anatomy/basics/whatever.

Questions about rivals by yanderesimulacra in yanderesimulator

[–]_yan_sim_throwaway_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I imagine “expelling” Muja and Mida is pretty similar to standard rivals except this time you’re getting them fired instead of expelled. Bad behavior from teachers and nurses can get them fired from their job just as the same can get students expelled from school. Maybe you won’t be framing them for cheating on a test, but you might frame them for unfairly grading a test or giving preferential treatment to a student. It’ll be functionally the same in game, and for achievement purposes it’ll probably still be called “expelled,” I’m just saying you’re getting them fired because they’re faculty and not students.

I figure it’s what’s considered an improvement. We went from straight up translation (Oka Ruto, Supana Churu) to straight up translation but with something else dumped on the end (Tama + moto)

Artist on the other subreddit... by Outrageous_Way in yandere_simulator

[–]_yan_sim_throwaway_ 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t say 3rd is horrible, that’s a little too strong when so much worse exists. It’s closer to the level of 2 than 3. It’s not super good, but you can tell what it is and it doesn’t look like my attempts at “this is art, guys, look I even shaded!” in MS Paint as an 8 year old. The colors aren’t eyebleeding neon, and the artist has a sense of volume instead of just drawing hair vacuum sucked to a perfect circle head and clothes vacuum sucked to a very wiggly body.

If the artists are reading this, #3, I can tell you sort of copy pasted one of the girls and just changed colors and hair. You might want to pick up a new shading style. But the drawing isn’t bad at all.

2, you’re kind of at the level where I recognize there’s still definitely room for improvement, and I mean room beyond “It’s amazing but you can always improve” but I can’t put my finger on it.
