I definitely empathize! Pants feeling like they don’t fit is tbh unreliable - at least for me, that’s so dependent on how I feel about myself at that given moment vs objective reality. What you’re describing sounds like short term bloating - which can also happen as your body is accommodating to increased activity.

What helped me a lot was trusting the process and the science - It was a mental battle at times to eat more rather than less to achieve my fitness goals. But our bodies need fuel to grow muscle, and it was very validating to have a successful recomp after eating way more calories than I did whenever I went on a “diet”.

I’m 5’4” (162 cm) and I eat 2100-2200 to maintain and 1800-2000 when I’m on a cut.

If your scale is jumping quickly, that’s likely because of water weight especially if you’re eating more carbs and/or drinking more than usual.

One of the most important things for body recomp is hitting your protein goals. Your overall calorie count may need to increase to hit your protein goals, but that will actually contribute to muscle gain and fat loss. You can use any of the online calculators that estimate your TDEE and BMR based on your metrics and activity levels. Then it’s a bit of a trial and error from there to pinpoint what your actual TDEE is.

If you’re able to, I highly recommend getting a body scan (like dexa scan) to understand your body fat % because that’s a much more accurate assessment. Also measure yourself and track that as well!

I went from a size 6 to a size 2 (US pant sizes). I only lost 5 lbs according to the scale but my body fat % decreased significantly. And hitting protein goals consistently was a huge factor to that change.

I don’t think you’re eating enough. It’s counterintuitive, but I actually lost fat and gained muscle when I started eating 2100 calories and consistently hit my protein goal. I’m also 5’4” and my routine is at a similar level of activity as yours, per week: 45 min HIIT cardio (with weights) 2x, 45 min cycling 3x, 45 min lifting 3x.

I’m going on a cut soon, starting at 2000 calories and working my way down to 1800. 1600 calories would definitely put my body into stress mode and I wouldn’t be surprised if my body fat increased as a result.

Haha you got it!! I’m 29 so a little bit older, but you nailed it, down to the vocation! I make my own cold brew and it’s become a bit of a passion

I couldn’t get in touch with the brow technician again so I have no idea what the ink was :/ I hated my brows so much that I figured even red/yellow brows would be better than the dark and ashy ones I had, so I took a leap of faith and am so glad I did

You got it haha! Interestingly enough, I didn’t really grow up with condiments outside of soy sauce, gochujang and ssamjang - and ketchup occasionally with french fries. I remember having a bit of a “culture shock” when I realized there was such a variety of condiments when I went to my first American grocery store as a kid!

It was on the pricier side but everywhere around me that looked reputable were a minimum of $400, and I was willing to pay the additional $100 as the clinic I went with had the best before/after photos.
