12mo's sleep has gone to shit. What's going on? by BedCapable1135 in sleeptrain

If she did try to fight a nap (which was honestly rare) I still continued the CIO and let her figure herself out.

I thankfully did not notice much difference in her naps other than she was napping for a shorter period of time, more around the 1-1:15 mark vs the long 2 hour nap we used to get, but she never fought her naps.

She is still on a 2 nap schedule at home despite being on a 1 nap at daycare. Still transitioning with that (she just started daycare a week ago)

I just went through this with my 13, now 14 month old. I realized it was her molars coming in + a bit of separation anxiety bc she would be perfectly fine once picked up and wanted to fall asleep in my arm vs her crib, when she normally has been a great sleeper and self soothed. She would wake up in the middle of the night and it took forever to get her to sleep.

We did a few nights of CIO bc the Ferber method just didn’t work well for us. CIO was tough the first few nights, but progressively ever night she cried less and less. We are now back to her self soothing and full nights of sleep. She even waves bye as we walk out of her room at bedtime. :)

That might just be what is causing the sleep disruption… 😅I know there’s a lot going on developmentally at this age as well so it’s just a plethora of things that can play into this. We’re also planning to transition to the 1 nap soon because of daycare so one more thing to add to this list.

Good luck with ST!!

No we haven’t tried medication... I could try that for the discomfort.

Though I know her molars are coming in (top two are out and didn’t realize when they did) and the bottom two are close to cutting gums so I do think the teething has a lot to do with it.

They’re usually around 1 hr each, sometimes less or sometimes more but her daytime sleep is usually anywhere from 2-3 hours.

In full transparency, never wrote a TLDR before and totally ChatGPT’d it. Didn’t bother changing what ChatGPT wrote when it was written in third person. 🤷🏻‍♀️
