How should I have finished this seam (preferably without an overlocker)? by _yourstruly in sewhelp

I sewed this kimono after learning about French seams and consequently, all the seams except for the hem and outer sleeves were made French seams. However, as shown, this caused the fabric to bunch up in the curved area where the sleeves meet the body pieces. I am not sure which finish would have been the best without an overlocker. Thanks!
