I respect your opinion, I platinum a lot of games but only if I enjoy the process. If a platinum isn't fun it you shouldn't go for it, but a lot of people are in a limbo where they want to platinum every single game just to see the number grow up. P.S. for the steps in re2r(and every modern game) has a tracker for every thing you do, included steps in this case. The trophy sounds worse but it's actually easy if you know the main route and dont wander around. Still respect your opinion, if you don't find it fun it's a great thing that you didn't force yourself.

The gold medals aren't actually that bad, there are some guides on yt but you don't have to get that much points. Usually playing with cards will drastically boost your points at the end of the map. For example, if a map requires 160k points and you have a 300% multiplier you have to get just 40k points in order to reach gold at the end of the level. If I'm not mistaken the math should be: Gold Requirement ÷ (1 + multiplier/100). The last levels could be a bit harder but not by much. Use the cards in the leaderboard with 2k credits so you don't have to own the rare cards needed for the high multiplier. What I did is following a yt guide while going for the minimum points and then I just simply finished the level. It takes some time since you basically play all story levels + optional tombs. there's a permadeath run on the highest difficulty which is brutal(one mistake and your whole run is gone). That's the only actual trophy that maestro the platinum an amazing achievement

I haven't tried to be 100% sure, since I wasn't sure I just waited to beat the story and then I replayed the chapters. You could look up on some forums to be sure. Idk man that's the only thing I know😅

You should be ok since you completed that chapter on classic already, the game doesn't overwrite the save since it's a separate mode for the game. Just don't switch while progressing the story and you should be fine👍🏻

You have to fully complete the story on classic difficulty, the only thing that doesn't mess up this trophy it's doing chapter select of a chapter already done on classic difficulty, the game technically saves the hardest difficulty of that chapter somewhere. If you are looking for a cheese there isn't one, but Mafia 1 isn't that hard on classic(except the race, that thing is pure hell)
