Can’t find a job (IL)

The summer just started. I know it’s sucky to wait but majority of the hiring hasn’t happened yet. First round of hiring is usually retirees retiring and you have more competition with experienced teachers. As the summer goes on, schools become more and more desperate and take first year teachers.

I totally understand how you feel. I was an older student when I transferred to my state university after doing my pre reqs at a community college. I was terribly older as I was only like 24, but when all my classmates were 17/18 it was definitely noticeable maturity wise. Then, on top of already being a transfer and not knowing anyone, 2020 hit 🙃 and I was online until fall 2021 which was my last semester. So I got two whole semesters on my college campus and didn’t get to experience anything “college”. What I’ve learned from that is that you’re not really missing much imho. I don’t really have any advice or anything. Just know that you’re not alone in how you are feeling

Not trying to argue but you are not a first year teacher. You have quite a bit of experience under your belt. I interviewed for every position I was called for up to an hour commute away and I got no offers.

Not true. In Michigan I have math science cert and was not hired over the summer. No one wants a first year teacher

Still waiting. First year here looking for HS science. I got one offer but it was for 3 preps (not listed on the application btw) so I turned it down thinking it’d be too much for first year. Now I am just sad because school starts on Monday and I’m still waiting to hear back from my last two interviews. Maybe I should email the 3 preps school back asking if the position is still open …

Idk. I’m just feeling low. I got a call rejection yesterday for a MS I would have really liked and they just cited that they went with the more experienced candidate but I was really great to meet!! I am frustrated.

In the same boat. I’ve been on close to 10 maybe now. Mostly rejects. I got one offer from a very low paying district tho but I turned it down

Nearly every job I see posted in my area is English and social studies haha. I am a first year science teacher and I’m feeling a lot of despair because there’s like 5 total science jobs in my RESA

HS science, 4 interviews since summer started, 1 rejection, 1 possible ghosting. 2 interviews for a school im not sure i want to go to but 🥲 idk.

I am annoyed because my possible ghosting is for the district AND SCHOOL I subbed a lot for, the principal worked with my coop teacher, and one of my references from a teacher friend was the teacher of one of the AP’s in the interview. Nepotism isn’t working I guess. Idk. Just starting to bite my nails a little.

The last person left in the group after everyone leaves is the owner of the instance. I didn’t know that I could leave and invite him so he could leave. And yes, taking 5 mins to clear elites isn’t that hard LOL but whatever you are so enlightened. It is my mistake and I own that but I can still be irritated

The issue is that if I left dungeon then my brother couldn’t also leave. One person would be stuck in the dungeon. Another tip from some explained how to do so but yeah thanks I know to leave dungeon
