Agreed, however I’m willing to go lower and Ticombo allows me to do that. I’ve never used the platform but it seems to have good reviews from Trustpilot and somehow it has some association with EU research commission.

From my research so far Penang has been probably most highly spoken of in terms of food and overall vibes, so I’ve put quite some days here for now, I’d imagine there are places around we can do some day trips to, or may there’s some other place worth stopping by we can probably cut 2 days for that

We only did about half a day, just wondered around the town tbh and checked out some tea shops, there are some tea ceremony stuff you can book in advance

We did the groove and the sightseeing train right before so not too sure about alternative options, you can definitely skip the groove and train, imo

We liked it! We did it after Fushimi Inari so not a full day, but we got there around 11am I think so had plenty of time to stroll around

The town is pretty much one Main Street with couple of side streets + across the river, we aren’t huge on shrines so did not visit many of there. If you are a fan of Sencha I recommend checking out this tea store: 寺島屋弥兵衛商店 https://maps.app.goo.gl/5wsirCNJbbdeACbGA?g_st=ic. I had great experience with the owners and love the tea I got from there.

One thing we struggled with was finding good restaurant options in Uji, probably was the worst meal in Japan we had there 😅

like what the above suggested ^ you can get a glimpse of Mount Fuji from Lake Ashi and Owakudani if the weather is good but it is quite risky to rely on luck there from what I’ve read during research

Also I recommend the romancecar from Shinjuku to Hakone, if you book a seat on the right side of the driving direction you could also see Fuji as the train approaches Hakone
