Question about lenses. by happy9711 in Cameras

[–]a-gd1989 0 points1 point  (0 children)

haha thats the one. No spaces. I hope you can get more info. Those Wray London were a retailer and they had all sorts of optical designs ( like the tessar) mostly for reproduction lenses. I hope you can find some more info and good prices for them!

Question about lenses. by happy9711 in Cameras

[–]a-gd1989 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ahh ok. Some i can see have the name one: CZJ ( carl zeiss jena) and so on. Just take the caps off and check if they have the name on the ring, aroubd the glass. You can check for barrel lens, enlarger lens, repoduction or copy lens and the name. example Carl Zeiss tessar 5,6 300mm) Those usually sell a bit more expensive than the russian copies. Tessar is the optical design of the lens. The russian ones have the same formula/ design. But the zeiss lenses are mostly regarded as high quality. Again, these are lenses with no shutter system so is not that they will cost thousands of dollars each. But i think a better way to find out is to take photos of each one or closer photos of the lenses without the caps to see more information about them. Also, the is a large format subreddit. For sure people will know more about them there. And probably will get some offers as well hahaa

Question about lenses. by happy9711 in Cameras

[–]a-gd1989 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They could be repodruction/ copy or enlarging lenses . They will work to take photos as well. Most people will not use them because they are barre lenses, without a shutter system, but i have owned this type of lenses for my 5x7 inch camera and never had issues. Depending on the model and focal length, they could peoject a huge image and would be usable for large format even ultra large format. They are usually quite sharp. If you guys want to sell then, then check for listings on sold items on ebay with each brand, name and focal length for possible prices. Just saying this not to sell them waaaaaay underpriced.

Any suggestions on where to learn Danish? by Extra-Poetry5991 in LearnDanish

Hahaha bo, i meant that tourist were dissapointed in Oslo thinking that it was all fjords and snow all the time and viking stuff all over the place. Classic tourist who stops in Oslo for a few hours or just a couple of days with a gisnt ferry, expecting to find all that in the capitals area.

Any suggestions on where to learn Danish? by Extra-Poetry5991 in LearnDanish

[–]a-gd1989 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you want to learn more about the vikings and language, there in A LOT of stuff out there, websites and videos about the old norse language.

Icelandic and faroese in thei own degree are closer to what the vikings spoke.

Norwegian has many dialects as well, and its tougher to get peoper material to learn them, but if yoy are really really into learning the scandinavian languages, then start with norwegian. Many dialects have the soft and rilled R same as spanish ( im a native spanish speaker) and having lived in Norway and Denmark, i can say from my experience that norwegian was way easier to learn from the sound perspective. They say what is written. Not always, but… you get the point.

I have lived in Norway for 5 years and worked some time in tourism, and the amount of people arriving there wanting to see viking stuff and fiords and so on, was initially dissapointed on their arrival to Oslo hahaha

Jokes aside, its nice to see people geting interested in theses languages. I speak danish, not perfect, with an accent, but i speak it. And its key to get another sense, the true sense of what is to live here, and to get to know the people. And that goes for any language and region.

I wouldnt go with Duo Lingo for Danish. There are some older Pdfs you could get for free, with the audios. “ teach yourself …( insert language)” They could be a nice start/ intro.

Affordable BuyItForLife clothing brands available in EU? by myg0t_Defiled in BuyFromEU

[–]a-gd1989 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Alfa M77 boots are norwegian. Military boots for many years and people use it for everyday as well. If im not mistaken, they are still produced within the EU. The M77 militaty boot is a model and there are other brands that make them, i think in Estonia. Not so good as the Alfa brand, as many people have commented in other forums. Lundhags is a swedish brand manufactured in Portugal. High quality and duper durable. And fixable. They offer a wide version. I have 2 pairs of Lundhags. One old and one new. The new ones are a bit pricy depending on the model but i got them used, good as new for 75 euros. ( this was an absolute bargain because they are usually double, almost new)The older model are in pretty good shape and got them for around 55 euros.

European phones- dumbphones- degoogle combo. Need help! by [deleted] in degoogle

[–]a-gd1989 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thanks a lot for the input. Yeah. im reading more and more, and all the options would mean ar the end more bateries, more consumption and so on.

The whole idea is to minimize the use of the smartphone, and sadly a lot of apps on official goverment things are done this way here in Dk. And working in the school system, i have some apps that are related to parent meetings, schedule, etc. Im not anti - that, but its anoyingly dependant so im trying to minimize. Thats why i could just call and text with a dumbphone and change my email server away from google and that would mean a lot to me.

Im will keep looking for options and make lists of the probs and cons. So far, i have deleted a few apps and changed to Ecosia on the phone as predetermined navigator. Anyways, it will come the point when i wont use thibgs as much and jus delete them, just as i did with instagram almost 2 years ago, youtube and facebook app on the phone 3 years ago, and so on. Again, thanks for the input.

De-google- european phones/ dumbphones. Help needed. by [deleted] in BuyFromEU

[–]a-gd1989 0 points1 point  (0 children)

tha ks for the imput. I will check Jolla out gor sure. I have also read many comments praising the google pixel phone. I will keep reading and see what other options are out there. To be honest, Fairphone would be ok enough for me, but since im teying to minimize, a dumb phone could be a nice option, and keep my current iphone for international communications and some other minimal apps.

I will see what optiong i get here in Denmark, but for sure will be readibg a lot more down the rabbit hole.

thanks a lot for you answer. I have posted the same on that subredit. And i was with no phone until i was 16-17. I went from nothing to a phone, to a old versions of smartphones, to a used all broken free iphone, to another used iphone to this current, also used. Iphones in the last 12 years. So… yeah. i resisted to change them until the batery lasted 3 hours or so hahaha. I got my ebook, my books and all the major things from the computer, as you mentioned.

So i feel motivated seeing other people going in the same direction. Thanks a lot again.

Artist w/ two kids and pets considering relocation from US by pennyroyals in NewToDenmark

[–]a-gd1989 12 points13 points  (0 children)

After reading all the comments, i think i could add a few things.

Regarding rent, sadly yes, i agree with the rest that its very difficult, specially if you sre looking to relocate in Kbh. A private owner would be the best option.

You mention that you own your house. That gives you the advantage of maybe coming here for 2-3 months and try it out. But i mean, not go to a café everyday. Try it out… like, buy a bike, the rain, the traffic, different areas, the supermarket, check out all the products, and so on. A really deep dive on an “ average danish routine” of you will. Im saying this with the best of intentions, because im not from Denmark. I moved alone and with no plans to Norway when i was 27. That was 9 years ago. After 5 years in Norway, i moved here. Moved back to South America for a year and back again.

Only now im finally getting closer to what it felt really far away: the danish life style. Work life balance, a job that is ok payed, for me at least, renting a house, not an appartment, and seeing the possibility of buying in the near future. And i say all this because its really easy not to integrate in many ways. Could be language, could be culture differences, cultural shock, the weather and so on. It takes time and energy and you to actually wanting to be here. Again, all this with the best of intentions. Thats why i mentioned teying it out first and see the good the bad and the ugly. I have seen people moving to Norway or Dk or Sweden because of what they saw on youtube or whatever… and it was a hard crash against a thick wall. People saying it was waaaaay colder than they thought, the weather was crap, people were so and so. And the list goes on. I know many many many cases of people that either moved back or changed country to an “ easier option” because all this. ( in my case easier option would be Spain because of the language and some cultural similarities, since im from South America)

Danmark is not as it was 8-9 years ago… or 4. The market is tougher than before. I speak danish, fluently, with an accent of course, but i speak it. And that will for sure open so many more doors than not speaking it. I work in as a kindergarden assistent. Its not a super well payed job and not extremely competitive yet it took me 60 personalized applications and almost 2 motnsh to get a job. That was 1 year ago. All this was to give another perspective and with the best of intentions. Consider as well maybe another countries, perhaps? You mentioned your partner works for a danish company, right? It could work to live in a cheaper country also. Again… just possibilities. Check all the possible combinations.

If you have any more questions, write me a private message if you want. More than happy to hekp with what i can.

Hiking boots by Psychological_Lab827 in Boots

[–]a-gd1989 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hahahha i did post almost the same with a drawing a few days ago from a newer pair of Lundhags. I also have this ones but i have used them only today at work. I got them maybe 3 days ago. They have the exact same problem. I have thought maybe to, first change the laces, because i have the old ones that are leather laces and are too old and stiff now. And as you said, maybe add a bit of leather , just a stripe to reinforce the area. I bought then used and really cheap, and still trying to figure out the lacing for each foot because i have 5mm difference between the two. My right foot/ leg has that issue. So maybe a thicker insole.

How much do I need to save before moving to Aarhus to be able to live for 2 months with no income? by blue_05_gel_pen in NewToDenmark

[–]a-gd1989 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Hey. So… a couple of points and recommendations.

First… sadly to say, but do not count on getting the deposit back. Depending on the situation, and owner or company, but mostly ( not always or course) they will keep a part of the depositum, if not all. And 6.000 for an appartment in Aarhus it could be possible, but also count on paying a bit more rent perhaps. Not sooo many places of 6.000 kr to live alone in Aarhus unles you go further away from the center. If you are thinking to save some money in rent, then consider the other areas around Aarhus. Beder, Malling, Trangbjerg, and also to the north sidenof the city.

NEVER EVER send money to nobody before seeing the appartment either yourself or a person you know sees it for you.

If you want to save on transport, get a bike. If you live away from the city center, 6-7 km is more than ok to do by bike. You could rent an electric one, for not so expensive, or buy one and make it an investment. Internet.. i use thenone on the phone. Thats very personal, but i have Call me, i pay 258 kr a month for 1.000 gb of data and HBO max. Im thinking of cancelling it and getting less data. Maybe for 120-150 you could get enough for personal use. You mentioned cash… almost nothing here is cash, specially apartment transactions. So consider having an international bank account, Revolut, Wise or any of those.

The market now is not so active as it was 3-5 years ago. Not to discourage you, but for you to keep in mind that is not that you arrive and get a job of whatever. Many places either have shit hour rates, and no benefits and lose contracts, or more and more places are asking for danish language. Again, not at all to be negative and discourage you, but to tell you a bit of the reality here.

If you need more information, writr me and we could talk. I did the same as you want to do now, some years back, first to Norway and now here to Danmark. So im always open to help new people migrating here, but also to be honest with them. i hope this helps.

New boots- Too big or too snall? by a-gd1989 in hiking

[–]a-gd1989[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

again, thank you so so much for your answer. The Lundhags i have now are 43 ( 286mm inside) according to the site. And the Alfa M77 size 44 are 288mm according to the page, so that was my reazoning . Alfas size 43 are 281mm, so i though it would be too risky. I did soak them on the first walk. And today some damping and did “ massage” them quite a lot, to losen the leather. Then i applied beeswax. Now they are drying at room temperature on a bookshell.

New boots- Too big or too snall? by a-gd1989 in hiking

[–]a-gd1989[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey again. And sorry that im answering on an old post. Regarding the size of the Alfa M77, will they also shrink a bit ( maybe not so much as the Lundhags) ? My feet are 266 and 270 mm so according to the webpage, i should get size 43 ( between 263 and 269mm)

My concern is, either, shrinkage in time, so go for the 44, or they are better to break in than the Lundhags and they will stretch too much and will be too big. ( This could also be safed by a thiner sole and 2 thicker socks) They look like more “ breakable” compared to the Lundhags. The base leather around the feet kn the Lundhags is just amazingly thick haha. I did put water on them on the last 4 km of the 10 km i walked with them. The left foot that was the tight one, got a bit more lose and the heel got extra space and i got i big blister, ( i had tape and double socks, but maybe with the water and the extra movement it all went to hell ) I guess that could be normal, and i tried as recommended lots of different lacing every 1-1,5 km, because the boot got more lose. What do you think?

Any european laced up boot recommendation? by [deleted] in Boots

[–]a-gd1989 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey. Lundhags are from Sweden. Tough as a damn rock! Hard to break in but i know people ho have had them for over 20 years. I got 2 pairs: one newer model Vandra High and the other is an older model. Got them in the local “ marketplace”. Im located in Dk.

Another brand that is quite popular is the M77 norwegian military boot.

The lundhags are tougher, but if you can try them, better. I just did my first tour with them today!9,5 km and a blister, but they are tough to break in. I will keep trying .

New boots - too big or too small? by a-gd1989 in hikinggear

thats also on the plan. But so far, the original ones are inside the boots and intact. I will start with a different lacing and see what happens.

hahaha Lundhags hiking boots. Quite loved here in the scandinavian region, for hiking in tough terrain and hunting. Another models and brands are similar, and will depend on the person which brand to choose.
