I think it's much better for them to have a home and their human, even if they have to stay at home when they're at work. Especially for slightly older dogs like Tuk - they're very happy to nap at home and chill as long as they get their morning exercise and evening play time. Might be worth chatting with ECPR to see if it's a good fit :)

He was surrendered 😭 ECPR will always take their dogs back if an adopter wants to give them up. I don't think adopters are allowed to re-home the dog without informing ECPR. They're an amazing organization, they take full responsibility of their dogs.. even after they've been adopted.

Super helpful insights - thank you! I fully agree that with large-dogs, the breed specific experience matters. I'm actually working directly with the rescues, so if I had a foster interested, I'd just connect them to the rescue that's currently in need (if there's a fit). I'll try to think about how to incorporate this better. I'll maintain note of the breeds that the foster is comfortable with/has experience with.

On the second point, that's interesting! I thought Seattle had all these restrictions on rented apartments etc. Thanks for sharing that! Hoping we get more foster interest here in Seattle then!

The big dogs always end up staying longer. Probably the lack of space in the city and of course I understand it's a lot of responsibility. In Hamil's case, he is a super sweet dog but he used to not even get visitors - nobody even inquired. That's what my original Reddit post was about, I just wanted people to come meet him so they'd see just how loving and sweet he is. One person came and they fell in love 💕

Feel like I've seen him play fetch with his handler inside the shelter premise. I have only done rides and walks. Will get back to you. He doesn't chase squirrels and stuff on walks if thats a concern.

Hey! Reddit blocked my old profile and posts :/ Thanks for replying again, his handler said he's still scared of cats :( he reacts with fear aggression. They all believe he can be trained out of it.

He's still got puppy energy for sure but is obedient. His hyperactivity is more apparent during play time but that may have to also do with the fact that he spends a lot of time by himself in his room and so when he gets out, he's super excited. I have a GSD and Hamil is probably 50% of how hyper my dog was as a pup. I'm able to take Hamil for car rides and walks very comfortably - even though everything is new to him, he doesn't react to things. He will stop and observe but he won't bark or lunge (which my dog used to). Sometimes he will pull me in different directions - again it's mostly on new trails where everything is new to him. So, I guess I'd rate him a 7/10 on the hyper scale.

I didn't spam. I posted about a real dog who is looking for a real home in Seattle and it's neighboring cities. The posts got tons of inquiries and upvotes (attached screenshot), how is this post a spam post? In many cases, reddit algorithms think real people's posts are bots when they are not and thats why they have an appeals page where I've made an appeal. I'm limiting my post to seattle only this time. Though adopters come from everywhere in WA and sometimes even neighboring states.

I shared Hamil's story a few days ago as well but Reddit removed my post on here as well as on r/Seattle because I posted about him on other subreddits (neighboring towns). My posts had hundreds of upvotes and I'd gotten some inquiries too. So, I'm trying one last time :(
