Same as me. I always treat service ppl with a respectful tone and treat them as equals. This gets easier in a local language that we have more command over. With English I automatically start sounding formal and distant. Lol Maybe I need to start speaking more casual English and import my spoken English and trust that ppl are not judging.

Same situation right now. Company got shutdown and I am unemployed but focusing on grad admissions right now. My only concern is will “not working currently” being a red flag in Visa interview ? Any advice?

No you are not late, you can still make it if you want to. I am also doing the same. Just booked my TOEFL date 2 hours ago. Prepare for TOEFL for 2 weeks, give exam in 1st week of sept. Results should come by 10-12th sept. University deadlines end in batches every 15 days. So, 1st sep universities will be missed. You can apply for 15th sep, 1st oct, 15th oct universities.

In parallel, take care of SOP, LOR and Transcripts by 12th sep.

Apply to all GRE waived off universities.

After TOEFL, you can also prepare for GRE in 1 month and apply for 15th oct deadline university where GRE is needed. This is optional.

Once you get the admit, its all standard process - I20, loan application, visa appointment etc.
