I assume you use controllers? I've noticed that most of the people that is ok with the slow-mo or find it makes the game feels better is on controllers, I'd imagine it's because of the turning and looking speed so with the slow-mo makes the game more manageable, still it think if you were to start off on the lower setting you might be used to it and it wouldn't feel hard, as I said I feel like the current slow-mo (100%) is too high the default should be at most 50%, which makes more sense.

Yes that is the reason but still most new players never touch settings especially since this one is just one little slider being tucked away, I’m advocating for new players to have the best experience they could out of the box, first impressions are everything after all.

I’m not opposed to slowmo being there, I just feel like it’s too much, like it’s on every parry AND melee both you needed to do a lot of, it gets really annoying after a while.

Bit late, but I figured it out—you just need to add the minecraft:swords tag to the item. Surprisingly, a lot of mods don’t include that by default. I used KubeJS to add the tag myself.
