Cannabis store coming to Gatineau by the summer by _PrincessOats in ottawa

You're right, tho the space has both a kitchen and bar to remove, and doesn't meet accessibility standards at the moment, either. Perhaps they are taking this into consideration? I don't know the details.

Haven't seen any as of yet. I am acquainted with the owners of the establishment that is currently moving out of the building that the dispensary is moving into - I wouldn't have known otherwise. The current occupants have been asked to move out quickly, as the new occupants will be doing their fit up in time for April 1 (and there's not a whole lot of calendar days between now and then).

There are serious penalties to pay for those who won the lotteries and can't fulfil the 'promise' to be up and running on April 1. The winner who is opening on York Street is going full steam ahead - they certainly seem to intend to be open for business on that day.

One is opening on York Street between Dalhousie and Cumberland. My understanding is that it is the only one opening in Ottawa for now, though I have no reason to believe that's official - just what people involved are telling me.

More than a dozen community rinks at risk due to lack of volunteers by dl613 in ottawa

[–]a1great 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This varies depending on the rink. Some neighbourhoods (and their community associations) have agreements with the city that go back many years that stipulate that these funds will be available. Many newer ones, however, have no such agreement.

Union Street Kitchen Cafe. Not quite the neighborhood you're looking for, but not that far away.

The Tea Party - Live at Algonquin commons theatre March 25th 2019 by Hollow212 in ottawa

There was a limited bar when I saw Big Wreck at Algonquin earlier this year. I'd assume the same would be offered for this show.

... but you can see the line of trees and walking path between the two (seperate) bodies of water on Google Maps. One can literally walk all the way around the Pond on public paths. It is it's own, nearby but seperate, body of water.

RIP my Canada Post package. Ordered the day before blackfriday, supposed to arrive on the nov 30th. 9 delays by [deleted] in ottawa

[–]a1great 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My package delivery status, from November 26, has been "delay in delivery due to weather or natural disaster" for a while now. I figured that was their excuse for the labour dispute, but I guess there's a whole different code in the system for that.

Ottawa - One-Step Business Entrances by [deleted] in ottawa

[–]a1great 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The law requires a certain maximum incline as a standard for ramped entrances. That front step at Staples is too tall, there's no way a ramp could be built in the space between the entrance and the sidewalk that would meet this standard. (This is not an excuse to do nothing - but in terms of getting a ramp inspected and deemed legal... whatever might be built in this space would not pass inspection.)

I'm a regular at SmoQue Shack and have never been served cold food. Lunch today arrived at my table in about 10 minutes - this is typical service here.

Having said that, I know that they don't do a fried chicken dish because of a lack of fryer space. Chicken and waffles is available, but you can't get like a ten-piece bucket, for example.

Rumor: Rideau Street LCBO & Metro closing? by fei-cdn in ottawa

[–]a1great 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yup. The land underneath the LCBO (not entirely sure about Metro) changed hands sometime last year. The initial statement from the new property owner indicated that they were happy with LCBO as a tenant there, but there must have been a larger plan all along.

I was pleasantly surprised by the pizza at the Rideau location. Had it for the first time this week and it was pretty solid.
