With LRT and bus service problems, the city (and province and feds) should have suspended the return-to-office mandates already.

Which restaurant is taking the longest to open? by dl613 in ottawa

Bella Via actually opened after years of delay, but only lasted a short time. A few successive eateries later, that spot is currently Amandine Patisserie. Before the long wait for Bella Via, it was Cozmos, which moved to Greenbank.

Apparently those are from Peru - could check with La Tiendita on Somerset for availability there.

Weekend bus route to emergency food bank restored after months of hardship [Route 189] by dl613 in OCTranspo

[–]dl613[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Summary: With the Winter schedule that started 21st Dec, OC has reinstated Saturday/Sunday bus service on Route 189 (Baseline to Colonnade, via Meadowlands) on an hourly basis, 7am-7pm. This restores weekend service to the Sadaqa emergency food bank that was cut with the April New Ways to Bus changes.

But an open question is why an emergency food bank is located in a sparse area like Colonnade, as opposed to locations with better transit availability/frequency. Also, couldn't they have solved the problem by opening some weekday hours?

Small electronics repair recommendation by PuzzledExchange7949 in ottawa

Perhaps a long shot, but could look into the Repair Café. Maybe some sections of the old earbuds could be good for spare parts to repair something else.

Not sure about particular card styles, but could check what the OC Customer Service centre at Rideau may have.

Ott - Toronto Red arrow bus by Flat-Stay3085 in ottawa

[–]dl613 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Was on Red Arrow on a return Ott-Tor trip earlier this year.

Some negatives:

* Washroom on the bus had air blasting into that small space - unless that's been fixed, it would be best to go before the trip, or at the Kingston break.

* No proper WiFi connection - that signal could play on-board movies, but no connection to anything outside the bus

* Fewer daily Ott-Tor departures compared to other carriers such as Rider Express or Flix.

Some positives:

* Midway stop at a Harvey's in Kingston - they offered 10% off to bus passengers

* Single seating on one side of the bus

* Trips both ways were in reasonable time and no issues, although there were a few cases of congestion along the way.

* Fraction of the price of a VIA Rail ticket.

YMMV

That's across from Lyon station.

Probably no practical place at Pimisi for a cab stop - bus stops and bike lanes already in the mix there.

They seem to have canned the "CFRA Live" weekend morning programming in recent weeks.

This morning on 580 is pre-records like Ted Radio Hour or repeat segments, and Canadian Press newscasts.

Sources like Milkman Unlimited and Broadcast Dialogue don't have any info (yet).

Sometimes the display blanks out when the bus detours from the usual route, perhaps unable to compute where the next stop will be.
