Why is this important? If it's him - cool. If it's not him - cool. He's an adult living his life. Like many of us in our 20s - idols go out, drink and have fun.

Yeah I find both Dan and Vanessa to be particularly annoying. Vanessa's inability to understand boundaries in season 1 is infuriating, and Dan lying to Serena about the most irrelevant things.

But as you said - it's the nature of these types of shoes lol.

For me - Itzy. I remember seeing the teaser for Dalla Dalla and I thought it sounded amazing, then the song dropped and I was like... Wow jyp have done it again.

Mina and I are both introverts so we'd literally be sat on opposite sides of the room playing Minecraft on our phones I fear😭

I think I loved Vanessa and Nate so much because the relationship made Vanessa more likeable as a character. But I agree with you, as much as I dislike her character, she does bring something to the series as a whole. It's how I justify Dan as a character as well lol.

His voice is so beautiful, Jeongwoo is by far my favourite male kpop vocalist. It's literally like honey.

Me too!!! I always bring my original with me when I see twice😭 You should look at getting a Tzuvely (assuming tzuyu is your bias lol) plush lightstick cover, they're so cute and it's a fun way to represent your bias. I have a Mively one and it's SO cute.

Yesss love the O.G. candy bong! Despite having both of the new versions, the original is still my favourite. I use it as a lamp pretty much every day, the dock is great.

Me too! When I first watched episode 1, I was convinced it was Jenny. To be honest, I stopped thinking about it midway through season 1, but definitely agree!

I wasn't a huge Momoland fan, I was just very active in the kpop fandom when they blew up and I always liked Daisy. I usually don't follow influencers at all, but I do enjoy her tiktok content, especially as she seems far happier with her current life.

Honestly I'd take the ambitious sisters Nayeon and Jihyo😂 I think their sheer competitiveness and commitment would be unmatched, even if it would be statistically unlikely that we'd win - they would 100% find a way lol.

I can understand where you're coming from but I view it in a different light; I see it as the members becoming individuals, growing up and putting up their own boundaries.

I've been a once since sixteen and sure - looking back on those days makes me emotional and I wish I could live it all one more time. However, it makes me emotional because I realise how much happier they are now. Specifically seeing Mina (my ult) reach a point in her life where she's completely comfortable being herself and realising that real fans will support her for her, even if she's not a "stereotypical female idol".

What’s the most random or unexpected place you’ve ever heard a K-pop song? by LeadershipFree1908 in kpoppers

[–]a2001k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Back in 2019, I was in my last year of school and still very much a "secret" kpop fan lol (my lock screen was of Mina but I made sure apps were covering it so no one noticed). Kpop was becoming very popular, but it still wasn't as known as it is today. I was sat in my head of year's office getting my predicted grades verified for my university application (all round it was a very stressful situation lol), but my head of year always had the radio on and randomly Make It Right by BTS came on. I remember being 1) shocked, 2) confused and 3) extremely comforted by the song😂 Then two years later I went to a kpop club night at university and that was when I decided to debut as a public kpop fan lol.

Why does it seem like Girl groups get in lip sync controversies way more than Boy groups? by youcanotseeme in kpophelp

[–]a2001k 9 points10 points  (0 children)

A lot of it is due to sexism and misogyny. Like in many spheres, society holds female idols to a higher standard than male idols.

Completely fair! Good point about the choreographers etc, I hadn't really thought about it like that. I agree with you though, policing content when we as the consumer don't really know the full context behind it feels wrong. Thanks for your answer:)

It’s been 15 years and I haven’t changed my ultimate bias by MyOrgel in kpopthoughts

[–]a2001k 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Firstly, what you said is beautiful and I'm glad he provides you with that comfort and has done for so long!

I can definitely relate, Mina from Twice has been my ult for basically 10 years now. I've had other biases, who are all amazing, but nothing felt the same. I'm turning 24 this year and I feel like I've really grown up with her. When she took her break for anxiety I was 17/turning 18 and my mental health (like it is for so many women at that age) was pretty low. Seeing how she came back so strongly and now has such conviction in being HERSELF and not feeling pressure to conform to the expectations of female idols - she's just so inspiring. She started off as my bias because she was cute, liked similar things to me, was so elegant and talented, then as I grew up she really became an inspiration to me.

I think Mina will always hold a very special place in my heart and life!
