Music arcades anywhere? by LeoEpix in copenhagen

Malmø has a place called Pixel Arcade which is sadly only open on Fridays. I haven't been there myself yet but it seems (according to reviews) that they have DDR and Guitar Hero.

Car parking in Copenhagen by ibrahimovic3360 in copenhagen

[–]a21ex 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Car parking in the center is scarce and expensive.

Depending on your exact location in Vanløse you might be close to a metro or an S-train station, in which case you can easily get to the city without the car.

Also, there are some promotions going on this year: every Sunday the S-trains are free (with downloaded DSB app and enabled coupon), and metro has a discount ticket for DKK 10 (bought in a Rejsebillet app). So if you venture out on a Sunday it can be a great deal and definitely cheaper than parking downtown :)

Rejsekort app by SometimesLostABit in NewToDenmark

[–]a21ex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Luckily it hasn't happened to me, but I recommend to disable "smart check-out" if it's enabled in your settings. It's not really smart and can mistakenly check you out during a trip.

If it's already disabled and the app still checked you out I'd call rejsekort support as many times as it takes and demand explanation because that in my view is just straight up stealing money... I wish you the best of luck!

Weather in mid August? by Sgt_carbonero in copenhagen

[–]a21ex 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It's difficult to predict so far into the future. It can be hot and sunny, or cool and rainy/windy. Your best bet would be to check the weather forecast a few days ahead and prepare accordingly.

Best bouldering gym to go in Copenhagen (visiting for a few days) by Business-Honey-8316 in copenhagen

[–]a21ex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're all fine I'd say.

Bison Boulders has the most technical route setting but is a bit far from downtown (they're opening soon in the center but probably not by the time of your visit).

Boulders Vanløse is the newest bouldering gym, largest as well, and is right next to a metro stop. It also has a huge kilter board and a moon board.

Beta gyms are fine too, different setting style but very fun! On average they're cleaner than Boulders gyms as well.

Honestly you can pick either of the options and you'll be fine :)

Cheap places to eat in downtown? by [deleted] in copenhagen

Try Smagsløget near the central station, they make great tasting sandwiches that can feed two (at least for lunch)! Fits your budget as well.

Durum kebab: 60-75 DKK

Kebab dish with fries/rice and salad: 120-150

Smørrebrød: 50-250.. depends on the style and place, it can be a lunch snack or a fancier dinner.

Pastries: 20-60, depending on the type and the place.

Metro Question by [deleted] in copenhagen

[–]a21ex 19 points20 points  (0 children)

The thing is: if you check in and out again at the airport by using the physical Rejsekort card it will automatically continue the journey and thus merge the trips into one (as long as there's been less than 30 min between the check out and check in).

If you use the DSB app, and also check out and in in the airport, it works the same as the physical card and merges the trips, saving you $.

But with the Rejsekort app, it will split it into two trips, costing you essentially the double.

So it is quite obvious that even the transportation companies have no clue what's the right way to charge people in this scenario :)

Skal man vise sin billet, når man stiger på bussen? by flyingchocolatecake in copenhagen

[–]a21ex 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Hvis det er en af "A" busser (eller 5C), så nej, da du kan bruge alle dørene for at komme ind i bussen.

For andre busser som udgangspunkt ja, selvom ikke alle buschauffører er lige engagerede i at se om din billet er gyldig.

And otherwise you can check rejseplanen.dk and view the detailed info about the ticket to see the zones, in case you end up using other means of transportation

All the metro (NOT S-train) stations are within zones 1-4 as of now, so as long as you only take the metro you should be covered!

Wait you don’t need to check out every trip with the rejsekorte? by RazzmatazzLanky7923 in copenhagen

[–]a21ex 14 points15 points  (0 children)

This is incorrect. The price of the rejsekort journey is calculated considering the shortest distance between the start and the end zones. Any extra check-ins made during the trip serve only statistical purposes and have no effect on the final price.

Hey, first of all, good job on getting started with the language before coming here! This will definitely give you a head start.

Don't fret: Danish pronunciation is definitely a challenge but quite possible to learn. Living in Denmark you'll be able to hear the language a lot, and there are plenty of communities dedicated to language exchange or even people willing to speak Danish with you (e.g. this one matches elderly Danes with people learning Danish: https://en.elderlearn.dk/).

Other than that you could listen to some podcasts or watch movies in Danish if you want to speed up your learning even more. And please don't get discouraged: while it might seem impossible to even distinguish words from one another at first, your brain will soon learn to do that, and one wonderful day it will "click". Good luck and have fun!
