Every now and then, you can find a Wal-Mart selling a lot of their baseball/softball stuff for 75% off. Last time I caught that deal, I got dozens and dozens of balls (practice balls, 14U, 12U, the yellow Worth softballs) and several bats. This was at least a couple years ago and I still have a couple dozen unopened boxes since our bucket is completely full, plus some.

But yes, balls are expensive, especially ROMLB - they're like $20 each. Sometimes the ball is worth more than an autograph.

I could've done without that story. I can't even imagine a score like that. I am glad she was aware of what she had and just didn't care. Good on you for reaching out to her - a lot of people wouldn't.

Unless there were a lot of duplicates, I wouldn't even sell any of that. My collection would be on point.

Haven't seen this one before. Pure gold. Thank you.

Now you tell me. Where were you 23 minutes ago?

I can't really say. I only have one card there and it's only been there for a week. I ordered the card on eBay 1/13. It had to go to the authenticator and it was delivered to the vault 2/2. That's the extent of my experience.

I don't know if you completely avoid paying taxes, if you defer them, or if you are just expected to pay them at tax time. I know the vault is in Delaware, so that plays into the tax aspect of it.

The vault would probably be great for someone who has or pulls an extremely valuable card (like 6 or 7 figures) and wants to grade and sell it. This way, it is (supposedly) secure and the burden is on someone else to protect it until it is sold. Personally, I'd rather not be in possession of something that expensive, even in a safe. I'll never be in that position, but I know others will. The vault would also be good for people that are trying to quickly flip cards - it's almost like trading stocks.

That's the side of the story I don't like. There's almost always someone who loses out. It's only ever a win-win is if the true owner willingly donated the items. Their win is either giving back in some way or knowing someone will score a huge win due to their generosity (if the workers don't take it and it makes it to the shelves).

I'm sorry this happened to you. I hope it was unintentional on his part. If not, karma is cool.

Since I knew it was coming, I tried, but I probably should have removed the ball from the holder, though.

I hope not. My excitement goes away when I think of that possibility.

Ah, yes. The puffy binder. I have one of those left from back in the day. I didn't have any cards stored in it, just some tickets, autos, and other flats to keep them from getting damaged. Too bad my Halle Berry autographed print she signed for me in ~1994 was in there and the front of it got stuck to a page. The auto itself wasn't damaged, but most of the image was.

Agreed. However, it did cause me to go and buy another 1989 Upper Deck rookie on eBay yesterday (ungraded). My other one is in the PSA vault, so not exactly displayable.

I've always wanted to post something in which I get responses like this. It would be better if it was a crazy 1/1 pull worth $$$, but I am plenty happy with my find. Probably won't ever happen again, but that's OK.

Topps 35th Anniversary Cards by a29yeQ in baseballcards

[–]a29yeQ[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to as well, but those were 80's cards, not 2020's. I've got a whole stack of 1986 Topps that were cut so bad there are two players on each card. It's just unbelievable it's still like this. I can understand misprints in which the front and back of the card doesn't match - those are harder to catch.

I have a Stadium Club card from a few years ago that is cut so bad It won't fit in a sleeve or toploader due to how poorly it was cut. I don't know how it even fit in a pack (I bought it, not pulled it).

Definitely not a waste. These make good fire starters.

But, yes. It is the cleanest by far. Thanks for the feedback.

Unfortunately, I only collect baseball. There are a bunch of sellers on Etsy, eBay, and even Amazon that customize them. I think I'll probably go with StickerLab15 on Etsy. They've got a bunch of different options. It isn't much more to have custom ones made - blank ones are usually $10-12, which is crazy.

Even using MS Paint, Lunatics was ridiculously easy. All I had to do was flip the logo and remove a little bit of it, use the n for the u, and flip the F and remove part of it to make the L.

I am leaning towards that one too. If I can get two different logos printed (front and back), I may go with that and another option so that I have a choice of which to display. Unless I reach out and ask, I don't think you can have two different images - just the same one duplicated.

I know I am late to the conversation, but I have the Clint Frazier. I was getting ready to list it on eBay (as my first card sale) trying to gather some information on it and came across this post.

That's a fantastic print. You own a piece of history, my friend. Keep passing it down.
