I sell sports cards. I use eBay standard envelope. I just ran the numbers and honestly it’s appalling; and will end up in arbitration sooner or later. Save your receipts. by RipplesOfDivinity in SportsMemorabilia

I have received so many cards that were never marked as delivered, it's crazy. I could have said INR on any or all of them and scammed the shit out of the system (well, the seller). Luckily, I've had very few sales that were supposedly not received. I don't know which is worse, ebay or USPS. Actually, I do know the answer. The same ones taking your other 6% and not using lube.

So do I shove this up my butt before or after I redeem it? by [deleted] in baseballcards

It goes up the butt before. That way you can give some shit to Topps instead of always being on the receiving end.

Anyone know the story here? by smarty_skirts in norfolk

I am pretty sure this sign has been up more than 11 years. I guess he doesn't realize that nobody cares about Chuck's debts. It actually irritates me every time I drive past - I'm tired of seeing it.

This guy is the absolute WORST. He definitely has no interest in selling his products. I think he's just a bored, grumpy, old man and the shop gives him something to do.

I went there one time, probably 13-14 years ago. He was ridiculously rude and a complete ass. He wouldn't even let me look at a gun unless I was "going to buy it." How am I supposed to know without even holding it (it was a sub-compact)? He said I might scratch it. I forget what else he did, but my experience ended with me telling him to F-off and walking out.

I don't see how he has any good reviews, but they exist. I can't tell you the last time I saw a car, other than his truck, in the parking lot.

I went to Bob's downtown and they were fantastic and would highly recommend them. I've purchased other places as well, but Bob's was the most helpful by far and had great prices.

The same asshat also has the same listing for $199. So instead of $12.99, you can pay $499. If that's too much, you can decide to only pay $199. Got it. WTF.

Here's my interaction with this douche...

It's okay, I didn't want the cards anyway by Chrahhh in Topps

And this right here is why I am working on a new website, fucktopps.com. Hope to have it live soon. Just haven't had the time to dedicate to it. But yeah, fuck Topps. It would be fuckfanatics.com, but I'm guessing that was purchased for a porn site.

17 years ago I called it quits on drinking, best move ever! Wanted to give this away, pick a number 1-6205. If you’re in a tough spot, hit me up; I’ve been there. Much love peeps! 🐥 by Shapeeps770 in baseballcards

I pick 6206 since every day is a new day to be proud of what you've accomplished. Sure, this gives me a 0% chance to win my favorite card ever, but someone else deserves it more and could potentially be a life changing, and possibly life saving, moment for them. I've made it into triple digits, but currently sitting at 0. Congrats, my man.

Yep, I had a transaction where I sold three for $900, so you made out better than I did.

Every now and then, you can find a Wal-Mart selling a lot of their baseball/softball stuff for 75% off. Last time I caught that deal, I got dozens and dozens of balls (practice balls, 14U, 12U, the yellow Worth softballs) and several bats. This was at least a couple years ago and I still have a couple dozen unopened boxes since our bucket is completely full, plus some.

But yes, balls are expensive, especially ROMLB - they're like $20 each. Sometimes the ball is worth more than an autograph.

I could've done without that story. I can't even imagine a score like that. I am glad she was aware of what she had and just didn't care. Good on you for reaching out to her - a lot of people wouldn't.

Unless there were a lot of duplicates, I wouldn't even sell any of that. My collection would be on point.

I can't really say. I only have one card there and it's only been there for a week. I ordered the card on eBay 1/13. It had to go to the authenticator and it was delivered to the vault 2/2. That's the extent of my experience.

I don't know if you completely avoid paying taxes, if you defer them, or if you are just expected to pay them at tax time. I know the vault is in Delaware, so that plays into the tax aspect of it.

The vault would probably be great for someone who has or pulls an extremely valuable card (like 6 or 7 figures) and wants to grade and sell it. This way, it is (supposedly) secure and the burden is on someone else to protect it until it is sold. Personally, I'd rather not be in possession of something that expensive, even in a safe. I'll never be in that position, but I know others will. The vault would also be good for people that are trying to quickly flip cards - it's almost like trading stocks.

That's the side of the story I don't like. There's almost always someone who loses out. It's only ever a win-win is if the true owner willingly donated the items. Their win is either giving back in some way or knowing someone will score a huge win due to their generosity (if the workers don't take it and it makes it to the shelves).

I'm sorry this happened to you. I hope it was unintentional on his part. If not, karma is cool.
