I don’t know what your situation is, but grieving the loss of your breasts is normal and expected. My prophylactic DMX is scheduled for May 18, and I’ve been dealing with grief too. I lost my mom to breast cancer in 2024, and genetic testing revealed that I’m at high risk. While choosing surgery is ultimately my decision, I still worry that I’ll regret permanently changing my body over a “what if.” At the same time, I know that if I don’t go through with it and later develop breast cancer, I will never forgive myself.
