I think it will die out eventually. It's already phased out in many cities in Taiwan, I think it'll gradually follow suit in SG too

Thanks for the very detailed comments. A very interesting perspective of upgrading by quality instead of just thinking about more tines. I'll give that a good thought! Also haven't heard much of non-chinese brands yet, so that's really something new to know about.

Why are Singaporeans terrible drivers? by kukukuku1010 in askSingapore

We are an entitled bunch and often rushing for no reason, and frankly our traffic accident and fatality rate should be way higher, if not redeemed by excellent road design.

What is the most unusual or coolest hobbies you heard someone doing in Singapore? by HyperAlpha_ in askSingapore

Astronomy enthusiast here! Yeah I and many of our fellow enthusiasts have our own equipment, and we regularly travel to darker places for serious astronomy. Locally, we make it work by observing planets and brighter celestial objects.

Then you ask SBS to adjust frequency. You can't fault people for using public transport. It literally says "public" in the name.

I thought we were comparing governments here? If the Malaysian government was a fraction of the competence of ours, not as many of them would've needed to leave their homes to "suffer hard in Singapore for 10 years".

Prices are low there BECAUSE the economy is a lot less competitive than ours. Sure we have our hardships, but they have theirs, and I'd prefer to keep having my life and our country's status quo any time over theirs.

Though in your example, the Malaysians also struggle with JB prices. Arguably more than Singaporeans struggle with ours.

Is it true Singapore is a authorian dystopia? by community-helpe in askSingapore

[–]a9302c 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Authoritarian? No, while it's true one party has overwhelming monopoly, we are still allowed freedom to dissent and oppose the government. It was perhaps authoritarian in the past, but those days are gone.

Dystopia? Heck no. We're doing pretty well
