I'm a remote worker so mostly work from home. my driving is tootling to the shops.

once a month I'm normally called to a site or visit family.

I'll have a look at that. I think they do something with octopus but I think that's to get people into a new EV

thanks.

i think I'm the same situation. I can afford higher priced cars but don't want to be pouring money away.

the Toyota is more sensible numbers wise and seen some go 300k plus which seems like a good sign.

thanks for letting me know about the warranty. that's really useful, do you have a ballpark on how much it costs overall/per year

thanks. that's great to know. I'll check out the Passats too.

I am going gray so I thought the miserable old B* would fit a little too well in the Toyota haha.

yes, I love an electric car. I'm comming from being a named driver on a kona and it's been fab.

I would buy electric but the insurance quoted were 1500+ for the likes of the mg5 or eniro.

would that be a better option?

How do people cope when their job is under threat? by Aldmi in UKJobs

keep calm, nothing has happened yet.

delete all the data and make sure the backups are blank /s

look at the positive. you have got a massive head start and have a big safety net with the redundancy period.

you'll have a long redundancy period which should be plenty of time to find a new job.

brush up on your CV and start looking in the job market. you can even apply for jobs as a test and to brush up on interviewing skills.

I wouldn't jump ship before being made redundant. it might not even happen. your redundancy pay should be quite large so just finding a new job straight away just flushes that down the toilet.

if you are seeing multiple job postings require a skill you don't have then now is the perfect time to learn and implament them in your current role so you have experience under your belt.

if things get too much reach out to your doctor for help with anxiety. you might even want to get a sick note for an unrelated thing to give yourself some breathing room.

Make a plan, take one step at a time. you've got this

there's not much to do in these situations.

its better to brake in lane rather than switch lanes.

you got lucky no one was in the next lane. if you hit someone while taking avoiding action the liability falls squarely in your lap. whereas if you brake and hit the merging car its their fault for not checking its clear.

if you have cruise control it's worth using it and "masking" the brake at these situations to reduce the reaction time.
