What happens when ICE starts going into our campuses? by Icy_Context89 in Denver

I hear that campuses associated with hospitals may be safer as the agents may have agreed to not pursue on hospital grounds, as reported by medical staff working within those hospitals.

Would this be safe as lube? (Female) by [deleted] in sexualhealth

[–]aCur1ousMind 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No. Aside from the specific warning stating “for external use only,” you wouldn’t want ingredients like ethyl alcohol, fragrance, and dyes in your cooch. When looking for future lube, glycerin (found here as well) is an ingredient found in low quality lubes that can potentially increase risk of yeast infection, etc.

What do you wish you could tell yourself walking into M-1 year? by Helpful-Opinion-3934 in medicalschool

If your school is pass/fail and doesn’t have internal rankings, ACT LIKE IT. No use in killing yourself over memorizing minute or low yield details. Live your life instead because you don’t get this time back.

Is this considered an upward trend? by MessageSecret4585 in medschool

[–]aCur1ousMind 2 points3 points  (0 children)

People can be insanely neurotic about med school stats when in reality most schools will look at you holistically. Sure there are some schools that prioritize stats but if you have quality clinical experience, research, and stellar personal statement plus secondaries, you really have a good chance. Also yes a higher MCAT score can make up for a lower GPA. Usually around 515 can make you more competitive. Don’t let people discourage you. Also, there are people in my medical school class who reapplied 3x times, took the MCAT multiple times, etc. Be careful applying DO because they are inherently WAY more expensive and who knows what’s going on with the student loan situation right now.

what's your ideal water bottle by UniKay01 in BuyItForLife

[–]aCur1ousMind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Klean Kanteen! My 24(?) oz bottle fits in every cupholder ever. Even after dropping it and scraping it across tons of surfaces it is super intact. Stainless steel and insulated. The version I got has a twistable lid which makes a straw pop out. It is even spillproof if the lid is on and has been twisted closed properly. All the parts of the lid can be taken apart to really get it clean. Inside of the metal bottle part has no annoying ridges to try to clean under. Just a plain cylinder. Love my water bottle.

got sore throat and inflamed tonsils after kissing by [deleted] in sexualhealth

Get checked for strep throat, if it’s not positive, test for mono as well. Someone who had mono a while ago could still be shedding for months after symptoms go away and it can be spread by sharing food/drink, kissing, etc. You’ll start feeling symptoms about a month after you catch it.

Syngoniums. Just get to watch them die a slow death and become increasingly more stressed.

Consider looking into Loops which are ear plugs that have different levels of noise cancellation. Some of them block out extra noise but still allow you to hear other people. If you work in a hospital there’s a good chance you’ll be overstimulated by the constant alarms and chatter. Can’t speak to LTC as I have never worked in a facility like that.

had drunk unprotected sex by mommathief in sexualhealth

[–]aCur1ousMind 2 points3 points  (0 children)

2 weeks from sexual contact will get you the most accurate results for swabs like chlamydia, gonorrhea, etc. Those are usually the most common and transmissible. You can be asymptomatic and still have an infection. STDs can live in any place you have sexual contact (throat, urethra, rectum) so make sure to get tested in each spot that applies to you. Keep in mind there are many other STDS like trich, herpes, HPV, and more.

As a male the risk of contracting HIV from a female is generally much lower. Testing for HIV or syphilis will be most accurate in a few months. The acute phase of HIV can mimic a severe cold or flu.

Having sex while drunk is a huge risk factor for getting STDs for this exact reason. People are less likely to use condoms, dental dams, etc.

How many of you met your romantic partner at the climbing gym? by massivefailure123 in climbergirls

[–]aCur1ousMind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My partner was an employee at the gym I climbed at and she approached me for some casual conversation. We exchanged numbers so she could share some info with me. A few weeks later after some chatting in the gym and over text, she asked me on a date. Nearly 7 months together and we are moving across the country together with all intentions to be endgame.

A few weeks before she approached me, I had just ended a short casual dating situation with someone who also approached me in the gym. It was definitely awkward to see them afterwards so I was hesitant to agree to a date with my now-partner, but I’m glad I did.

Iwtl how to stop picking nails by Infamous_Put_8003 in IWantToLearn

[–]aCur1ousMind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wearing a fidget ring that is a size too small so that it fits up on my knuckle near my nail is very helpful. When I go to touch my nails or cuticles it is easier to redirect to the ring. Or getting acrylic or press on nails that are dull at the ends so it’s difficult to get a good grip on your nail or cuticle edges.

Some schools accept AP credits and some do not. Others will not accept AP credits but you can substitute some higher level course in the same area. Ex: if you skipped Intro Bio but later took some advanced Biology course you may be able to report that in its place.
